Rope, I don't mean to poke. And I know you're real. I sometimes wonder if you're for real. I don't think I'm so somewhere else, either. But we do seem often to be at crossed purposes. I think what you seem to want from me most of the time is a sparring partner in matters theological (atheological)? ...

Tom Waits from Bone Machine. Not Dylan.

If you don't have Bone Machine, you need it.

I don't know for certain if this is the first record I ever bought with my own money, but I think it was Prince Around the World In A Day . It was on cassette. But I don't remember how I got the money, whether it was allowance money or what. I don't remember buying it, only having it. And my parents...

Face it, Otis. You're just wrong about Let's Dance. I got Lee and Cope Fan backing me up. Cope Fan alone could take you, all bald and leathery.

And then there's the Two Virgins record, which John & Yoko made when they were really in love. Seriously though, I think the worst thing that could come of this would be a Diana Krall/Elvis Costello collaboration or two on an album of love songs with a jazz feel. That's bearable even if it's not...

There are just so few really good love songs out there. So very few. He could either redefine the love song or make us wish Diana Krall had not been born.

Let's hope for the former.

Raining on a Sunny Day WOULD be a better title. I thought when I read it that it might have been the real title and felt like a chiump for having had it wrong all along. When I saw the correct title, I confess I was a bit disappointed. Could have had that whole "Shadows in the Rain" vibe g...

1. Lee is a woman. A very nice one who drove a long way to come see Oliver's Army play and danced her ass off.

2. Bushmill's is very good. I also like Jameson. But then it's Irish Whiskey and not bourbon again.

I'm very particular about my bourbon.

I am a huge fan of specific Dylan records, but not of his whole career. I think the following (obvious) choices are stunning: Blood on the tracks Blonde on Blonde Highway 61 Revisited Desire Time Out of Mind Love & Theft I also really like some of his less-lauded records: Oh Mercy Slow Train Com...

I saw he Black Crowes twice. Once before their first album got big. And they were smashing. Then again after their first album got big. They were pathetic. And every album after was a huge pile of crap.

Too bad that Elvis is letting this hack open for him.

I think the Trust reissue is going to become the soundtrack for sex. It's alreadya great record for those purposes. Between Lover's Walk, Strict Time, and Luxembourg, it's easy to go from a Whisper to a Scream.
