Re: Elvis's last great album
I'm happy to see someone sticking up for SPIKE, but I you seem to want to drop most of my favourite songs from SP&S - I'll fight to the death to preserve that version of Hidden Shame!

Can anyone rip this stream? Even with annoying DJs, it'd be the best quality 'Canes recording since ACL!

Hey, I can hear the words on this one! The spell that you cast Well it seems to be wearing off fast Come back baby 'cause I don't know if I can last And I've got to wonder If you got some other kind of lover That you like to please Better than me Don't think I can take it How am I gonna break it? Re: Elvis's last great album
Well, The Delivery Man is my favourite Costello record, so obviously my opinion of his recent period is fairly high. I think it's possible American Ransom (or whatever it's called) could end up as his best album to date, based on the material likely to be on there.

Re: 'The spell that you cast'
I actually have a pretty good sounding MP3 from the concert in San Diego in April, which I'd be happy to share or send or post or whatever, but since I'm still living in the dark ages, I have no idea how to do so. Can one of you nice smart people help me out? The simplest way is to used https://www...

Can't help you, but I adore this song, although the FLAC recording I have is unintelligible save for the title and about four other words. Can't wait for the album version

"The Huston Kid" is a solid, sound record. A favorite of mine. Some very intelligent, and I think honest, writing on that record. I'll give it a go then! 8) Let us know what you think. Obviously, I rate it extremely highly, but people I've gifted copies to have generally responded very fa...

He occupies a rarefied group of Americana singer-songwriters that I find incredibly compelling - along with John Hiatt, Jim Lauderdale and dare I say it EC, who these days I think of more as an Americana artist than a pop singer.Jackson Monk wrote:It's just a hunch, but I'm guessing you're a Rodney Crowell fan?

Jeremy, where did you and members of the Sugarcanes go sightseeing in Liverpool? We pretty much started from the hotel and wandered around towards the water, just taking in the architecture and atmosphere, then on to the Beatles museum. I expect the guys went on after that, but I had to get on a tr...

Re: David Bowie - Comeback?
The most recent public outing I can recall from the Thin White Duke is singing lead on Arnold Layne and Comfortably Numb with David Gilmour for his On An Island tour - and a bloody marvellous job he did of it too. His hibernation doesn't seem to owe anything to the fading voice of some aging popsters.

If I had to guess, a reference to your flag or perhaps your old 'school', in lieu of the rep tie. I prefer to think of it as your homage to Carnaby Street and the 'swinging' fashion days of yesteryear as you stroll around London It was definitely nothing to do with my school - there's no way I'd ha...

Pete usually turns up as the drummer if I'm ever asked to make my fantasy rock'n'roll supergroup (I invariably give out the lineup of the Imposters before I realise what I'm doing and stop).

If you're wondering about a Lauderdale record to start off with, I'd say go for Headed for the Hills, which features songs he co-wrote with Robert Hunter. It's one of his best, and not as hard-core country as some of his other albums, so a good one to begin with.
