Re: Straining to outlive the past re:WIWC

The album as a whole reminds me in tone of MLAR; claustrophobic, harsh and bitter with the added ingredient of sadness (My Little Blue Window, I believe, deals with his depression.) Both these albums indirectly reflect ...

Surely, you can't come back as somebody who is already here and as you can't know anybody who isn't born yet, you can't choose at all.....or something like that :?

Re: Recent CD Purchases

History, I frequently wonder if that 'strange, wondrous atmosphere' is not a direct result of his amazing writing technique- the ability to build out from the rhythms and embellish around them. I know of no writer of his caliber who has such intoxicating beats in his songs. You are most right when ...

Re: Recent CD Purchases

It is a very good album, History. I quite agree, Christopher. At the moment, I just need to listen to it over and over, something I haven't done with any new album lately. It's just so well balanced, lyrically and musically and it has a strange, wonderous atmosphere all of its own. Standouts are Ge...

I always thought Tart was based on the following by Monty Python: I want another slice of rhubarb tart I want another lovely slice I'm not disparaging the blueberry pie But rhubarb tart is oh-so-very nice A rhubarb what? A rhubarb tart A what-barb tart? A rhu-barb tart I want another slice of rhubar...

There is a similar cowboy picture on the cover of Randy Newman's Land Of Dreams album although I'm not sure if it is him.

Re: Song meanings ? Tart and Distorted Angel

Distorted Angel concerns a young boy (Elvis?) being initiated into his first sexual experience
with a slightly older girl - a sort of doctors and nurses situation  and his subsequent feelings of guilt and how it related to his Catholic religious upbringing....I think!
