I hate to break it to you GWAR, er I mean WHAR, but it is not my opinion, it is fact.

It has been scientifically proven via carbon dating in the latest issue of Science Journal that I Want You is a better song than Alibi.

What are you, a creationist or something?!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Elvis COMPLETELY ruined Alibi on the album version. I saw Elvis blow the crowd away with a distorted solo electric guitar version of this song to open the show in the dark at the Park West in Chicago about 4 years ago (which Pip 52 was kind enough to supply...

Gotta admit that the song makes me cringe.

But so do most lawyers I know.

So I guess it gets it's point across.

I know you didn't just call "Chewing Gum" awful!!!!! It depends on what you're referring to. Chewing Gum - The Song? Chewing Gum - The Man? or Chewing Gum, the rubbery saliva-layden substance that ultimate ends up on our shoes. As for the song, I love it. One of my favorite guitar solos i...

The Best Of Elvis Costello - The Man (funniest title, though)
"The Man" was a necessary Copyright addition, if I recall, to distinguish the singer from "Elvis Costello - The Chewing Gum", which is awful by the way.

Are we limited to Elvis on this thread?

Because the most beautiful couplet I can think of is

Everything Reminds Me of her
Everything Means Nothing to Me.

Beautiful Poppet.

But don't "blame" me for your inspiration. I was recycling Kurt Cobain's words (see my post prior to the Cobain excerpt).

Take care and be sure to finish that bottle of Reisling. It's the only white wine I enjoy.

Very interesting Pip! Also eerily similar to (though I'm sure not pilfered from) page 120 of the Kurt Cobain journals. If you don't have it, head to a Barnes and Nobles and check it out. I think you'll see how disturbing the parallels are. You're in good company. I'd transcribe it here, but I'm drun...

Neither did I, WHAR. I make this shit up as I go along. For all I know he was referencing Cheech aand Chong.

I still like the record though.

I think Eddie may have hitched his wagon to the wrong star. If you wanna make art, head towards Arizona and paint rebel landscapes with Paul Cinnamon, er Simien, er Simonnon, er, the cool guy on the cover of London Calling!

Trust was kind of "knee jerk" on my part. It does though, somehow, represent the EC iconoclastic vison of Elvis as the post modern punk, in all his infinite glory. I think that the cover of GCW is, in a strange drunken way (only because I'm drunk), revealing. Whereas Who's Next (the obviou...

Am I the only one who thinks the new Who song is TOTAL CRAP?

Eddie Vedder says it's the best rock music ever?

Am I mistaken, or does it sound like mid-80's Roger Daltrey?

I don't listen to radio and only dialed it up on Rhapsody yesterday, so if I missed the first wave of praise/ridicule please excuse me.

1. Hands down This Years Model.

2. Trust

3. Get Happy (Elvis lying in a gutter)

When I was Cruel was also interesting.

Blood and Chocolate one of my least favorite. When I think of the wonderful content of the album, I NEVER think of the cover.

I'd play em:

Broken
Playboy to a Man
Big Nothing
Stalin Malone
Walking on Thin Ice
Soul For Hire
For the Stars (in it's entirety)
Kojak Variety (roll the dice)
Goon Squad
The John Wesley Harding Anthology

If they're still speaking to me after this, I consider it a win!
