Re: What are you listening to right now?

Listening to Tracey Thorn's new album, Tinsel And Lights - mostly a collection of covers, all celebrating Christmas holidays. Includes songs written by Ron Sexsmith, Randy Newman, Joni Mitchell, The White Stripes and Green Gartside. Oh, and two beautiful new songs written by Tracey herself. Out next...

A hilarious new song from John Wesley Harding.
Never tried making love to Bob Dylan, by the way.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Was watching the very excellent part 4 of Punk Britannia last night - pretty much representatives of most of my favourite 1978-1982 bands on it, only thing missing was Josef K. Mark E Smith and John Lydon both sneering over Elvis! What did Mark E. Smith say exactly? I watched Punk Britannia a few d...

Nope, I wasn't lucky enough to get the tickets.
I'm thinking of going to Poznan just to feel the atmosphere. There are reportedly around 20 thousand Irish and 7 thousand Croatians in the city.

Re: Wake up you footy fans!!!

:D
I sort of share your feelings.
I was watching the last 15 minutes of both games standing in front of the tv, and crossing fingers for QPR, and my kid was completely devastated when City scored the third goal, but you cannot deny this was a most incredible finish to the season.

This must be the most amazing end to Premiership season since the 1988-1989 Arsenal win.

Otis, go backstage and tell Barney there's a 14-year-old kid in Poland just dying to see New Order.

Re: 'The Return Of The Spectacular Spinning Songbook', Nov.

Actually, I wasn't asking that much a theoretical question. About ten years ago when internet access was slowly becoming a common thing in Poland, CD’s were priced at around 50-60 PLN ( = 9 GBP ). At the same time, the purchasing power of the population was only a fraction of that in Western Europe,...

Re: Ross passes....R.I.P. Mr. MacManus

I met Ross once, after one of EC&A Royal Albert Hall shows in July 1994, and I can only second what Sulky said about him being a gentleman and a most likeable guy. I asked him for an autograph and he wrote "To Jack - Peace - El's Dad, Ross MacManus" on the first page of Brutal Youth so...
