Yes, these titles are bootlegs, and so strictly speaking are illegal. The sound quality of some live bootlegs can be very good - especially if captured from soundboard or FM broadcasts. Availability is limited. You can sometimes download them (Kazaa, SoulSeeker, UseNet), traded, or bought at record ...

Given a choice I'd buy the CD every time. But record companies play silly buggers with our cash, and make things hard to get (e.g. the EC/SN box set), expensive to complete (e.g. Japanese edition bonus tracks), or keep changing the format (how many times have we bought My Aim is True?). Therefore, I...

There are at least 3 different users on SoulSeek, and another 2 on Kazaa, with the complete album - including the Japanese bonus track! :D

Don't have the CDs to hand just now, and I haven't played them all yet (silent office I'm afraid), so I couldn't answer all your questions. However, I can say that Baby Pictures is a full band uptempo studio version. It's nothing like the live EC&SN version from 82. A review likened it to Madnes...

Re: hullo...again

... Hearing the New Amsterdam EP tracks in such clarity makes them fresh again ... I remember browsing in a record shop when a Rep walked in and dumped a box load of 45s on the counter saying lines 'see if you can shift these for me' to the Assistant. Intrigued, I checked it out and was amazed to s...

For any North Americans with Kazaa, an audio search with keywords 'costello' and 'bonus' should yield good result.

There's an 'unofficial' companion to Bespoke Songs, called 'An Arm a Leg a Severed Head - more songs of Elvis Costello' that is also worth checking out. It's got Allan Mayes, Tracie, Georgie Fame, T Bone Burnett etc.

My understanding is that the Japanese edition comes with a bonus DVD, so you look to have it right Plaything.

But, by George, record companies know how to milk us EC consumers! That's nearly a $30 hike for 1 bonus track and a 'small' DVD!

No wonder the Net is a popular source for audio & video.

Elvis in Rare UK Concert Appearance

Elvis Costello is to appear in a 'concert of words and music', on September 15th in London, it was announced this evening (well, more like mentioned in passing really). BBC Radio 2 Dj, and one time rock journalist, Stuart MaConie was in converstaion with Chris Difford when he happened to mention the...
