http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B000NJWSCG.01._AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_V42110914_.jpg Almost as retro as The Bees. Huge palate of quite delightful ideas. Has hints of their former life as The Beta Band, bits of SFA and all sorts of other weird bits and bobs. Fabulous packaging for the vinyl edition ...

Sounds like it might need to be the first GP record I get since SOS. The following has just arrived courtesy of CD-WOW: http://thursdays.com/pic200/bowie4.jpg Disappointment remainss that it doesn't contain something really new and exciting on it, although the surround sound DVD repeat of the whole...

The book by Nicholas Pegg is excellent for detail, but it's not for a prolonged read. Have to recommend 'Strange Fascination' by David Buckley. It's very readable, very informative and with plenty of genuinely interesting interviewees. Often pops up cheap in paperback in the Fopps of this world.

Hugely enjoyable. I've got the heavyweight vinyl edition which sounds superb. Not wrong about the raw, rough-around-the-edges sound. Carried off with aplomb, mind. I loved the recent tour DVD/CD set because of the passion he pours into a performance and I think this record does a pretty decent job o...

I haven't heard anything prior to the latest record, which is thoroughly enjoyable. It has an electronic style, with a clear pop sensibility although it's still suitably angular so as to be a challenging listen.
Apparently he introduced a new member of the band at a recent show.

It's worth it with Merge. You get the vinyl and a coupon for a free download of the MP3s. Best of both worlds. Hopefully they'll be better quality than the downloads that were free with the Of Montreal vinyl. I'm in the same boat with the Arcade Fire, and the bible-style packaging of the limited ed...

Agree that's a great thing to have. Nice to watch too. Is this a tape from the telly or has it snuck out onto the internet? Nice inclusion of Buddha of S. Why don't they re-release that? Absolutely no idea. They keep milking the same old records and yet this is left on the shelf. It's diverse, invi...

5. Buddha Of Suburbia

A special nod for the bonus 3rd disc with the Bowie at the Beeb set that was recorded in 2000. A blistering live set with some absolutely outstanding live takes on classics.

It's been going on for far too long. Luckily, it seems to happen less with alternative music because there isn't quite such a need to be loud as it's going to have less constant exposure. That said, the recent The Good, The Bad & The Queen album sounds bloody awful on CD. My CD copy was played o...

Never had a problem with HMV, myself. Bang on with many, many orders. Occassionally there is a delay due to stock not arriving, but that tends to be mirrored by other online retailers.

http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B000E1NX1S.01._SS500_SCLZZZZZZZ_V1140142404_.jpg Unashamedly retro soul - the best possible kind. And it ain't in the shops till Monday! Recommended? A quality online establishment of independent origins posted it early enough for it to arrive today. Got the gatefold vinyl edition that comes with a bonus 7" of 'Running The World'. I'd heard it a few times before, but gave it some decent at...

Loads of extras - a bonus CD of b-sides, outtakes, duets, alternate versions, and live material accompanies each remastered studio album, and most of it is outstanding. The second box also has a great live DVD and a bonus live CD if you order through Yep Roc. I think my question about this got buri...
