Re: "Imperial Bedroom" Last of a perfect trifecta for me!
Both very good works, just different. IB is rarely in my rotation these days though, vs. KOA, especially the 2-disc version of KOA has a LOT more to offer than IB's fairly similar group of songs and explores far more than just folk (elements of New Orleans jazz, some blues, folk and country, yes, bu...

Re: Elvis guests with the Secret Sisters, Hollywood Sept 1 2
Cool. Like the green pants. Interesting about the sisters harmonizing. You can hear similar amazing harmonies between sisters on the Charlie Haden album that features Elvis on one of the tracks. There IS something about DNA and near perfect harmonization. My own aunts occasionally sing together and ...

Trust has always been one of my favorites, and especially like Luxembourg. Never understood more than a couple words, but loved its rowdiness.

Re: Elvis to Perform at McCartney White House Tribute
Enjoyed the cover of Penny Lane and twas a good performance of a difficult song that he pulled off with aplomb. The picolo trumpet solo was really good. But am I alone in saying this whole appearance made my stomach churn? It appears Elvis has put his chips in a political camp, and thats fine, but I...

invis - you nailed it. Toy Story 3, wow, was the best movie I have seen in a long time. Best of the Toy Story trilogy, by far. I cried . . .and I laughed. Never has an animated movie done that. Completely unexpected. Rented a clunker a couple nights ago. "Book of Eli" with Denzel Washingto...

Look, I'm not anti-semitic, or anti-palestinian, so forgive me when I say this . . . I'd like to see both sides armed to the hilt with the most diabolical and advanced weaponry available (short nuclear of course - due to drifting fall-out), and equally divided these armaments between the two sides, ...

Re: Elvis cancels shows in Israel , June/July '10
Oh, Elvis is quite political and has done a fair amout of Bush-bashing. But you never really saw him cancelling concerts in "red states". So, yes it is a bit curious why he would agree to play in Israel and then all of a sudden, and presumably not because of any recent incident that any of...

This is great that Elvis is doing this AGAIN. Makes me a bigger fan than I already was. He really is a good guy, and to know that he and others are there for his old buddies like Austin. . . well, that's CLASS. My younger brother is afflicted with Prader-Willi Syndrome and I am his legal guardian. V...

Alexv, thanks for the link. I gave it a quick readover and it raises more questions than it answers. Maybe I'm wrong and this will be a huge improvement. The 2% penalty is STILL looking better to me than the almost 7% I'm paying now. How will the government pay for all of us who just OPT OUT? Undocu...

Re: You Cannot be Serious: Health Insurance for All in the U
Color me skeptical. As someone who previously could not get health insurance on my own at ANY price because of a pre-existing condition (congenital heart valve defect and subsequent valve replacement surgery) --- I am still not so naive as to believe this bill is going to improve anything. Yeah, ins...

Nope, not Charlie Louvin. I think Elvis only sings one verse on one track on that 2007 release, right? Thats not it.
This track was one in which Elvis sings the whole song. Wracking my brain and keyboard trying to find it. Some obscure country artist.

That's the best version I've ever heard. One word: Wow. Eleven more words: I hope the rumors of a new Nashville LP are true.... I agree with that. Country Elvis just may be my favorite Elvis. A stripped down acoustic Nashville record with a 50-50 mix of covers and new material and guest appearances...

Re: Recently viewed films
Man on Wire was excellent. Rented it a couple nights ago and very interesting how they plotted and planned, and then the balls it took to actually do it. He was jumping on the rain-soaked wire, and also laid down on it. Crazy. And how do you string a cable that weights 450 lbs from a height of 1350 ...

You don't have to be a fan of MJ's to know he was a musical genius. I will even be so bold as to say he was on the same par, in some respects, as John Lennon. Oh come on now. Musical genius?? Comparison to John Lennon??? No. I'd allow dancing genius, or choreographer genius, performance genius, but...

Re: Elvis plays Telluride Bluegrass Festival, June 2009
I've been to the T-Ride Bluegrass Fest before, and they usually have a fairly wide and varied group of musicians. Certainly not the majority of which could be described as bluegrass. Beautiful venue, but if you're not used to elevation, the 8800 ft will kick your ass the 1st couple days until you ac...

Not just you. How Deep is the Red is easily my least favorite track. I have to skip it, the repetition and unpleasantness of the voice - makes me feel embarassed for the band playing along with him. I wonder how they keep from cracking up over it . . . oh boy, here comes another chorus of Elvis shou...

Re: well, what do you think of
I quite like it. More importantly, I'm not the only one, as this week's US Billboard Album chart reveals: I theorize that this is due to Elvis being much more exposed (at least in the US) than he was say 10 years ago, than due to the merits of the actual album. Sure its gotten good reviews and that...
