Re: Spectacle series 2 on UK TV - starts tonight!
The big surprise for me was on the Elvis interview that he had not read fiction since he was at school. I thought a wordsmith such as he would be a bit of a bookworm!

I think the woman who appproaches EC in the supermarket and asks who he is must be Davey Farragher's mum.

Re: Where are all the recordings ??
Would anyone care to send some recordings to me in return for some blank CDs? My DImeadozen account is frozen (I think my share ratio is too low). I will reoffer to the group Please PM me if you would be so kind.

I have a vinyl copy of the NR album WITHOUT the sleeve. So, just 2 LPs in paper sleeves. FREE to a good home, all I ask is that you pay the postage. Anybody interested send me a personal message and we will take it from there.

Re: MAIT HMV box edition
I remember this. HMV released some classic albums on CD but in an LP sized box. The idea was that people could get the sound and convenience of CD but retain all the artwork of an LP sleeve. I, foolishly, thought it was the future when I saw them in the mid 80s. But the idea didn't catch on. I spent...

Dimeadozen HELP!
Before I start can I say I am a complete beginner as far as dowloading is concerned and I have just downloaded 4 shows from Dimeadozen. I have managed to get the shows on my ipod and transfer them to CD to play in the car, and I use Vuse and Switch. But, suddenly I can't download anything else. My s...

Did he make the UK Top 100? Mind you, when you are competing against the inexplicable popularity of Michael Buble, does it really matter?

Re: Relatively Insignificant EC Stuff. . .
Someone once told me that as part of the promotion for King of America in 1986, Elvis sat in the window of HMV in London, on a throne with the KOA crown on his head. Anyone know if this is true?

How on earth did Condemned Man not make it onto the album? One of the most chilling songs he has ever done. I wish he's put that on the album and left off Josephine!

Re: Relatively Insignificant EC Stuff. . .
I read Louise Wener's account of her career in Sleeper - It's Different For Girls. EC covered What Do I Do Now, and there is an account of him inviting Sleeper on a tour of the US as the support. Louise said she had heard that EC was moody but saw no evidence of it apart from one incident. On stage ...

Re: Jimmie Standing In The Rain - Keats influence?
I have noticed a couple of Paul Simon references in Jimmy Standing in the Rain. "Tweed collar turned against the fog" echoes "I turned my collar to the cold and damp" from Sounds of Silence. And "I'm sitting in a railway station, got a ticket for my destination" from Ho...

This thread hasn't been used for a while. Readers in the North of England may know the misery of pushing a trolley around Morrisons (a UK supemarket for those who don't know.) I was in the Halifax branch yesterday and imagine my surprise when Everyday I Write the Book came on the instore music syste...

Madness have (has?) reissued some albums with bonus discs, and Rise & Fall has the Elvis vocal version of Tomorrow's Just Another Day, which I believe was on the 12" version of the Madness single.

Thanks for the recording Sulky. Sorry I missed you - I was on the front row as well. The recording sounds great and the sound is even better than I remember it being on the night. The vocal harmonies come across much clearer. It was great to download the show a couple of days after it had happened. ...

Harrogate, solo show November 84. T-Bone Burnett as support act. Had to leave early to get the bus, and missed The Coward Brothers encore. Also missed the bus home and had to get a taxi. An unforgettable (and very expensive) night!

A great show, and wonderful musicians. Great to meet Mr & Mrs Top Balcony again, and the snappily dressed Jeremy D. I will have to try the EC diet to get into the T shirt I bought.
The new slimline Elvis looks occasionally like the EC of the early Attractions years!

On the subject of live CDs, for several years The Who have released live CDs and DVDs of every show, even though the set list very rarely changes! All proceeds to the Teenage Cancer Trust, so everyone is a winner. Wish EC would do something similar.
