Re: A team of 'Elvis Costello Fans' needed for BBC tv quiz

I don't think the questions will necessarily be about Elvis Costello. From my knowledge Eggheads the team challenges the Eggheads in a general knowledge quiz. The Eggheads are winners of previous high profile quizzes - Mastermind, Millionaire etc. The challengers are quiz teams who have something in...

You are truly a wonderful human being for doing this! Thank you.
The other blogs are great as well.

Just a point about the Mr Obscure tracks...isn't There Goes Concorde Again by The Native Hipsters the most ANNOYING song of ALL TIME!

Uncut mag

EC makes a few appearances in this month's Uncut. There is a question about the Phil Collins produced album by Frida (from Abba) which provides a quote from Mr Collins that Elvis provided 3 songs none of which were very good. Coming from Phil Collins that is a bit rich. Anyway, I know EC put forward...

Re: Elvis when you least expect it

On 'You've Been Framed" last night Elvis singing "Ain't Misbehavin'" was used as the music for a number of hilarious clips. For people outside the UK this is a show of comedy calamities captured on camcorder.

Sorry for the shameless plug, but I am selling a Spike 1989 Tour programme on ebay. It has been up for 2 weeks for 99p and no bids. I am sure someone on here would want it. My seller id is russiansandamericans on ebay. If you miss it, contact my via a pm.

Printing artwork

This may sound like a stupid question to many people, but here goes. On the EC gigography list is a link to the artwork of live CDs where appropriate. When I click on this I get a CD sized cover on my screen, but when I try to print the artwork is massive! And there seems to be no way of resizing. H...

Yes, it was BIG boys, sister, sister's clothes and tears. "Big Nothing" is listed as A Town Called Big Nothing.

LITTLE Atoms, Palaces, Savage, Triggers and Goody Two Shoes. No prizes I'm afraid!

Re: Relatively Insignificant EC Stuff. . .

No cheating now....but there are 4 EC songs beginning with the word BIG, and 5 beginning with the word LITTLE. Name them.

Your 30 seconds starts now...

Also, the Tom Waits song Broken Bicycles on For the Stars...is it on a Tom Waits album anywhere? Serious question - I can't find it!

Re: Changes to Official EC site ($$$)

When I signed up there was a message "You Are Done." I couldn't help thinking "I just have been." Mind you The Who website is well worth joining as you get a free double live cd and a T Shirt! I wonder if we will get the same generosity from EC!??

Has anyone got a good copy of this show? I downloaded from the blog mentioned earlier in this thread but it doesn't seem to work too well for me. Each track cuts off before the end of the song! I can swap or send CDRs!

What's the reference to July 1st? Why couldn't EC be in Liverpool and why does the reviewer imply the audience would know who was responsible for that????? Confused.

Trivia question. Stiff Little Fingers released a single the title of which was taken from a line on EC's Trust album. What was the name of the SLF song and the Trust track??

Re: Costello at Liverpool Philharmonic 25/06/08

When Steve came on, did anyone notice him trying to watch the conductor for his cue. He kept bobbing up and down as the grand piano lid was in the way. It reminded me of that Morecambe & Wise sketch with Andre Previn.

No, I don't know Terrorvision personally, but I know the group. They were the biggest thing from Bradford since Smokie (and THAT is big!) but now I think they only play occasionally.

Re: Bargain Buy

I know this is just a trivial question but what is your bargain buy of Ecs albums and what is the most you have paid as you just had to have it? Oh, and which album would you never let anyone have under any circumstances and which one would you give away to the next passer by? Four questions in one...

Re: Costello at Liverpool Philharmonic 25/06/08

Some funny things from last night - EC fluffed his lines on at least 2 songs, Shipbuilding and Accidents will happen. These are songs he has sung many times without any mishap, but as soon as he has a lyric sheet he cocks it up. During Couldn't call it unexpected, he got down from the stage rather a...

Re: Costello at Liverpool Philharmonic 25/06/08

Some thoughts about last night. Well, it was spectacular and I must admit I have never seen a live ordhestra before. I was nervous just watching them tuning up! EC had the orchestra and audience behind him, and a full house in front. I was surprised he could find a way through to the front of the st...

Re: Relatively Insignificant EC Stuff. . .

Sorry to be pedantic, but EC's dad didn't really appear in the advert for R White's, did he? Ross sang the catchy song, and I believe a young EC was on backing vocals. The man in the advert wore glasses and I assume that is where the rumour about it being EC's dad began. He was a proper actor.

I have not seen A Case for Song for a while, but I remember that when EC came on, he gave Bruce a matey hand on the shoulder. Maybe it was harder than it looked!
