Re: When I Was Cruel No.2 on Later/Jools Holland DVD

I remember seeing him doing When I was Cruel on TV on the Meltdown festival. He also did Butcher Boy. Anyway, he seemed a bit harrassed doing WIWC, surrounded by effects boxes and I remember that it looked like he couldn't hear himself properly. He kept gesturing to the side of the stage. I haven't ...

Re: Elvis and Robert Plant/Alison Krauss

I saw the show in Manchester last night and it was EXCELLENT. I thought T Bone might do a support slot as well, but no. Most of the Plant Krauss album was played, plus some Led Zep classics. T Bone sang a couple - Shut it Tight and Bon Temps Rouler. I saw T Bone support EC in 1984. I never thought I...

Re: 'Lost Highway will release Momofuku from Elvis Costello'

Am I going mad, or did I read somewhere on this board that Momofuku was produced by T-Bone Burnett? I am sure I read it!

There is a very strong rumour that T Bone is also producing a covers album with The Who!

Re: Strict Time

I saw EC sing Strict Time solo in Harrogate in 1984. He started the show with this - and slowed it down so we could hear the lyrics! I think he sang it again in Edinburgh on the same tour (Nov 84) but I don't think he has sung it very often since! Pity as it is a great version with a great strumming...

Re: Discuss your rediscovery of Elvis Costello?

I must admit I wasn't a fan in the early years, but I was at a friend's house and he played the Trust album very loud and the first track he put on was Fish n Chip paper. A strange song to get hooked on I know, but from then on, I was a fan!

Re: 30:10?.......someone give me a clue.......

It's the number of people who bought Il Sogno, followed by the number of people who have managed to listen to it all the way through.

Or the number of years since My Aim is True, followed by the number of times its been reissued.

FLAC to Audio CD - technical question

Bearing in mind that I am a complete thickie when it comes to techincal things....I have downlaoded some EC shows in FLAC format. Can anyone tell me how to convert to audio files which I can burn onto a CD to play on an ordinary CD player? Thanks in advance!

Was this the last haircut he had before the beard years?? I also remember he had a book called Pads Paws and Claws, and spoke about working with Paul McCartney and having PP & C and Veronica half written.

Yes it is from that Spike documentary. EC also sang Deep Dark Truthful Mirror, Let Him Dangle, Pads Paws & Claws and Tramp the Dirt Down. He aslo used the F word which caused headlines in some of the papers!

At this point, can I highly recommend the new CD by Biblecodesundays, the band which features Ronan MacManus, Ross's son. The album is called Boots or no Boots and is available from their website. Another reason for the recommendation is that the lyrics of one song are written by Ross, with music by...

I recall a bit about The Singer sweating a lot and flapping his arms like a seagull as a signal for the band to play quieter. Oh, and I wouldn't bother with On the Road Again. No EC & A content at all!
