Yeah - that's exactly my problem - I inserted the code in order to download the track - I downloaded it fine, but when I try to play it, it asks for the code again, and tells me it's invalid - presumably because I've already inputted it once! I've got the DVD, and like the song, so would like to hea...

Can you get the 'North' download to play?

...Cos I can't! It just opens a new browser every time I click on it. It downloaded fine, but playing it appears to be impossible.

Has anyone managed to get it to work? If so - how???

Cheers.

You Turned To Me is easily the best - love Steve's Eric Satie touches, and that wierd 'it's never worth the price you pay' bit. It's so beautiful - up there with the best of his career. I like In The Mood Again - but can anyone get the track North to actually play? I can't, even though it appeared t...

The simple answer is - don't buy these! There is absolutely no reason on earth for these - unless you want to get Party Party or the acoustic version of Hope You're Happy Now. Which qualifies as a reason on earth, so don't listen to me!

Phew, thank God it wasn't you! He was slaughtered - my mate got talking to him and had to extricate himself.

Oops - hope it wasn't anyone else on here!

I was the one with a white cardy and an attempted Justin Timberlake beard, next to the lovely dovey couple. Musta been on the other side from you.

Jackson....

....I wasn't the bloke with his girlfriend - I was with my mate and, yes, pretty sozzled by the end of it. If you were that pissed, were you the bloke with the green check shirt? He was the most pissed bloke I came across! Free booze though - it was bound to happen!

Yeah, fab gig! Obviously some of the songs were on the sensitive side, with quiet bits - and the accompaniment wasn't too welcome. I'm not talking about Steve, who was of course magnificent as ever. Neither am I talking about the Brodskys, who were superb. No, I'm talking about those bloody fridges ...

Here's hoping....

...there are lots of live acoustic solo versions of the songs on the albums. At the RFH the other year in Robert Wyatt's Meltdown, he did a great solo version of 'The Great Unknown' - the first time he'd ever performed it live, he said. It transformed the song! Hope he recorded it for the reissue.

Okay, people fall out of love, they have affairs - they're too cowardly to admit it for a while: maybe the wife finds out JUST before the husband is about to confess as honourably as possible. They split up. We all know it happens. So I'm not going to judge anyone for this kind of very human thing. ...

Anyway guys - fine about the pros and cons of downloading, but can those who've heard it give us more detail about the album itself? I want my appetite whetted! What's the opening like? Are they all slow songs? Just gimme the lowdown on the whole album! And what's the song 'North' like? With those o...

Dor, you've got to get Blood and Chocolate, Trust, This Year's Model and Brutal Youth.

Then the rest.

But don't get Kojak Variety, Goodbye Cruel World, Juliet Letters or Painted From Memory until last - these are ones that'll put you off if you get them too early in your Costello quest!!

And when the hell is the album coming out? Amazon UK has it being released on September 15, everyone else says - what is it - Sep 23rd? And the Deutsche Grammaphon site says Oct 2003. I'm confused!

Actually, I think the 'original' Hoover Factory has been tampered with a bit on the new Get Happy release. The backing vocals are different at the end, I swear!

Hey, just thought - there's bound to be some kind of website for the release of North, as there's going to be a downloadable track. You'll probably have to go to a website for that and input your PIN - though I don't think there'll be the personal contributions this time! To add to the 'Elvis trying...

Hi Gillibeanz - I just doubt that it was as premeditated as 'reeling us all in' and all that. It's the first time a record company has suggested a website for him, he thought he'd give it a go, found it was too time consuming, then dropped it. I just don't believe there's any premeditated 'let's lea...

I really don't think there's an onus on an artist to keep a website updated - that's up to the record company. All the artist has to do as far as I'm concerned is keep producing great records and giving great live performances. How can he be expected to answer every fan's question? Why should he? He...

Totally agreed that Eisenhower Blues (any songs where Elvis tries to sound like an American bluesman always fails) It's Time & Sulky Girl (lumbering behemoths, both) Veronica (that snare drum) Playboy To A Man Also, I used to love 'From Head To Toe' but I'm finding it hard stomach the thought of...

Hey, my new fave of the reissues is The Bells!!! Wow, what a stormer! And Elvis slags off his own singing in the liner notes, but it's a belter of a performance. He's so great at putting the emotion over. Can't stop singing it now.

For me the highlight of the reissues is Black Sails In The Sunset on Trust. One of his best tunes, Steve Nieve's virtuoso performance. Out Of Our Idiot's version was great but muddy. The Ryko version improved the sound but faded out that beautiful piano 'outro' (presumably for space reasons - it gai...
