i planned on going with my dad, but the venue said there will be no exceptions to the 21+ rule. they said it is not up to them, but to the artist. i tried emailing Steve Nieve about this, but no luck yet. does anybody have any suggestions?

Amazing show! Among the best I've ever seen.
He played Kid About It (!!!!) and Let Him Dangle!
I swear he was channeling Lennon during Hey Bulldog.
Steve had a fab WTTV t-shirt -- didn't get a chance to find out how to
get one --maybe on his web site?
More tomorrow--I mean later today...

The kid got in !

Steve, I didn't have any problems getting in. My father and I were sitting above the stage, on your right side. The spot was perfect for watching your hands & keyboards! The show was fantastic, and I was glad to hear EC mention your new album (I'm going to check it out after I get some sleep). We were given passes to the after-show, and Davey did come out for a few minutes, but after waiting a bit the staff said that you guys had already left. I was really looking forward to thanking you in person and maybe talk some keyboard stuff, but maybe next time? Thanks again for helping me get in and for putting me on the guest list... it is really great to know that one of my heroes is so cool and willing to help out a fan like that. It was really unbelievable and I can't thank you enough.

That is awesome, awesome, awesome. I hope it will create some faith in the goodness of people for our fine young poster.

yes, it was incredible of Steve to help me out. the best part was that I could see Steve's every move on the keyboards... being a musician, I always try to see what he's doing but it is always impossible from in front of the stage.

Yes, and if not a setlist, I'd love to hear your account of the show Adam.

The setlist was similar to the other sets. There were some different songs... New Lace Sleeves, Shallow Grave, Sulky Girl, Kid About It, Uncomplicated, Let Him Dangle, River In Reverse, etc. It was a very fast-paced set... they just tore through some of the songs, one after another. Pete Thomas' performance was particularly noteworthy... he was just slamming into the drums with such force, it sounded like a shotgun everytime he hit the snare. It was something to see him tear through the intro to Lipstick Vogue with such ferocity. Steve, of course, was amazing... seeing him so clearly was quite a thrill. He would follow any idea that came into his head, using the Vox organ, piano/keyboard, synth, theremin, etc. The only Beatles cover was Hey Bulldog (along with a few lines of JL's I Found Out). I was happy to hear Riot Act and Big Tears.

also, although the show/experience was great, it was very dissapointing that the band didn't stick around for the after-show. only a handful of people were allowed in, and it was pretty clear they were very casual fans (a few people from the same box i was in during the show were the first/only to go back, some of which hardly knew any songs and seemed bored during the show). i wonder if EC's management decided that was enough, or they didn't feel like sticking around, or what happened there. i'm trying not to let it get me down, but its unlikely i'll ever get the chance to do that again...

22 May 2007

OK, I finally got more than 2 min to look at email tonight. Thanks for
being
patient.
No chance for "pass the line" at HOB for this show--the restaurant was
closed
for a private party, which may explain why EC wasn't scheduled until
9pm.The
show started 10 or 15 min late. EC hardly said a word except to do
promo for
WTTV--mentioned "some guy named Gordon" who sings on it. Show ran just
about 2
hours.
I wrote down the set list right after, so I'm pretty sure it's
complete, but it's not in order.

WTTWW
Shabby Doll
Strict Time
Lover's Walk
Sulky Girl
Alibi/I Found Out
River In Reverse
new Alison
new Chelsea
The Imposter
WTD/Let Him Dangle
Dissolve
Clubland (pretty standard version, no salsa)
American Gangster
Kid About It
Hey Bulldog
Pump
PLU
Lipstick Vogue
Hi Fi
Radio
New Lace Sleeves
Beyond Belief
MOOT
Big Tears
Riot Act
Uncomplicated
The Beat
Shallow Grave

This show, more than any other, made me wish that I'd been a fan during
the first 10 years. Non-stop, rapid-fire,
no-nonsense performance with amazing energy. Lots of spit 'n' snarl
during songs like Alibi and Big Tears.
Wasn't expecting to hear Kid About It--fabulous--the highlight for me.
Hearing Hey Bulldog played so perfectly by a band
other than the Beatles was a treat and made me appreciate the Imposters
even more. I said in an earlier post that EC was channeling
Lennon--right down to the signature (not Visa) facial expressions. Sorry we didn't
get All
I've Gotta Do, but Bulldog was beyond expectation.
Let Him Dangle was also unexpected--hadn't listened to Spike for quite
a while--surprised myself when the lyrics came to mind so quickly.
Love reading everyone's show reviews--thanks to all of you.
