..well, not really, I just wanted you to look!
By the board clock, it is now offically my birthday. I'm 45. Say it with a low-down, knowing growl: "4orty-5ive".
Of course, everyone knows I never say shit to anyone who announces their birthday here on the board, and that's because I truly and sincerely do not give a rat's hole about anybody's birthday, including mine. If you think that this is an awful sentiment, you might be right, but I'm not an awful person. In fact, I'm one of the most fantastic beings alive.
Don't believe it? Just check out my horoscope!
So, anyway, I'll be partying all day, kind of. I'm in a strange mood that's liable to get stranger. Go ahead and post here, if you like, make comments or give rebuttal, I don't care. Just come back here to this thread once in a while, and "watch this space".
And now, before I sleep, a song for my muse....

A song for my muse
strawberry Mother's Day
I was close enough to call you sweetheart
was it when my mind was locked
?
droll are the words of an over-aged pepper
remembrance is so pitiful
remembrance of love
must I dredge up my hoary demons?
what is life if not a forced examination
?
Suisun I have seen your appeal
open drunkenness a walk away
that thirteenth step's a duesey
but don't go by what I say
remembrance
by what I say:
I was frivolous and flea-bitten
and smitten with your elegance
your intelligence
your form I mixed with lustful fantasies
and went mad
o what is the value of a little push?
it was an idea that I dangled on my knee
I couldn't give it the attention of my heart
my heart was being used
I would give it my blowing mind
you
the adorned goddess of my ego
close enough to kiss
cheered approval
and I went with it
and I walked a crooked sidewalk
and I made a pudding pie
Suisun it wasn't easy
I had to drink
now I'm peeing in the pool of selfish art
my excuses in good order
it is so difficult to create
but I must!
drink to create
you brought me in and fed me
and said soothing words
and put me out on a miles-long leash
remembrance
by what I say
how do you handle the mentor thing
?
what is the weight?
I've shrugged them little peckerwoods off
what is the heft
of a little advice
?
let them find their own
remembrance
Suisun I love you
love and a little push
Sloan Street blue
brown and pale
I dismantled my life before you
I'm a kit now
custom
make me won't you make me
?
so I went for it
fuck ‘em
fuck ‘em all
the spitting pipe I used to be
has burst
I am the fountain
I am the God-directed id
yeah
substance
I adore you
I'm with you now, Miss Bea
gone daddy gone
westwind blow like a damndirty shame
the damage done and self-inflicted
the product a twist of remarkable dough
and what is the value of a little push
? some flattery from one who knows
?
a wink from a judge?
a nudge
?
my love my heart gushes for you
remembrance
by what I say
strawberry Mother's day
and what would I be without your love?
a slobman
a cur
a dullard of the roughest cut
an unknowing animal of the simplest nature
I went with it
and climbed the stairwell to Hell
like I am a genius!
now
I am a man for all reasons
ready for squeezin’
I was close enough to call you sweetheart
was it when my mind was locked
?

Some winged Merc
I'm as old as this car...
1958 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser
...and I'm just about the same: All brash and flash, but likely to throw a rod.

HIV
1961 - NOT YET!
It was awful last weekend. Mike's kidneys went into failure, and everyone thought he was a goner. He went in and out of conciousness, and developed an uncontrollable jerking, and had at least one major seizure. It's hard to believe anyone could have lived through it, much less someone who has degenerated into a state of emaciation.
He's back home, and receiving hospice care. He talks like there isn't a thing wrong. It's a weak spot with me, dealing with this. I'm headed back there tonight to stay with him for a few.

Dumb All Over
Whoever we are
Wherever we're from
We shoulda noticed by now
Our behavior is dumb
And if our chances
Expect to improve
It's gonna take a lot more
Than tryin' to remove
The other race
Or the other whatever
From the face
Of the planet altogether
They call it the earth
Which is a dumb kinda name
But they named it right
'cause we behave the same...
We are dumb all over
Dumb all over,
Yes we are
Dumb all over,
Near 'n far
Dumb all over,
Black 'n white
People, we is not wrapped tight
Nurds on the left
Nurds on the right
Religous fanatics
On the air every night
Sayin' the bible
Tells the story
Makes the details
Sound real gory
'bout what to do
If the geeks over there
Don't believe in the book
We got over here
You can't run a race
Without no feet
'n pretty soon
There won't be no street
For dummies to jog on
Or doggies to dog on
Religous fanatics
Can make it be all gone
(i mean it won't blow up
'n disappear
It'll just look ugly
For a thousand years...)
You can't run a country
By a book of religion
Not by a heap
Or a lump or a smidgeon
Of foolish rules
Of ancient date
Designed to make
You all feel great
While you fold, spindle
And mutilate
Those unbelievers
From a neighboring state
To arms! to arms!
Hooray! that's great
Two legs ain't bad
Unless there's a crate
They ship the parts
To mama in
For souvenirs: two ears (get down!)
Not his, not hers, (but what the hey?)
The good book says:
("it gotta be that way!")
But their book says:
"revenge the crusades...
With whips 'n chains
'n hand grenades..."
Two arms? two arms?
Have another and another
Our god says:
"there ain't no other!"
Our god says
"it's all okay!"
Our god says
"this is the way!"
It says in the book:
"burn 'n destroy...
'n repent, 'n redeem
'n revenge, 'n deploy
'n rumble thee forth
To the land of the unbelieving scum on the other side
'cause they don't go for what's in the book
'n that makes 'em bad
So verily we must choppeth them up
And stompeth them down
Or rent a nice french bomb
To poof them out of existance
While leaving their real estate just where we need it
To use again
For temples in which to praise our god
("cause he can really take care of business!")
And when his humble tv servant
With humble white hair
And humble glasses
And a nice brown suit
And maybe a blond wife who takes phone calls
Tells us our god says
It's okay to do this stuff
Then we gotta do it,
'cause if we don't do it,
We ain't gwine up to hebbin!
(depending on which book you're using at the
Time...can't use theirs... it don't work
...it's all lies...gotta use mine...)
Ain't that right?
That's what they say
Every night...
Every day...
Hey, we can't really be dumb
If we're just following god's orders
Hey, let's get serious...
God knows what he's doin'
He wrote this book here
An' the book says:
He made us all to be just like him,"
So...
If we're dumb...
Then god is dumb...
(an' maybe even a little ugly on the side)

The good and the bad
A lovely cake! Why, thank you so much, Gilli...and everyone else who has wished me good today, and everyone else that hasn't.
My asshole brother does the paintings. I'm very upset with the man at this time, and I can't stand him otherwise, and most people can't either. He is a living example of how the worst of us can be rather talented.
You can see him on my "Suitable for framing" thread, or you can just look at him here...
A Nazi by any other name would still be as white.

quilt! there's a quilt!
i imagine myself a quilter. in my copious spare time.
actually, i just collect fabric, again, w/ the time.
is it a family heirloom, or an indian knock-off?
yeah, talent is a strange mistress. she picks the oddest folks to land on.

My Elvis shrine
This is my little shrine to Elvis, and everything "me".
I just picked up North. It was already in the discount bin. I paid $11.99!
I've listened to it once. It seems to be quite like this thread: A bit of boring self-indulgence.
I hope he gets over it soon...
As far as that quilt, Pop, I haven't seen that thing in years. It's probably Thai.

Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday to my favorite hound.
By the way, I like the North CD, so what if it is self indulgent, just close your eyes and listen to that voice.
It must just be the romantic in me.

You have to put in more effort. You know... poems, paintings, pictures of beautiful cars, etc.
