I like JM's double prediction. I'll go with that.
Driving through north of North London/Epping Forest recently I noticed a very flash house called 'Camp Nou'. WTF?, I thought. Looks like a footballer's house, but why would a Barça player have a place here? Turns out it's Teddy Shezza's, and of course the house name commemorates his moment of greatest glory. Way to go, Shezza! Very close to the road. Easily spotted. Apparently it got pelted when that moron bimbo of an ex-girlfriend of his was part of the anti-Shilpa witch hunt on 'Celebrity' Big Bro.

Teddy Sheringham - what a player. Should have played many many more times for England.

MG, looks like your local MLS club could be moving closer to home...
"Major League Soccer’s New England Revolution and Somerville officials have held preliminary discussions about building a 20,000-plus seat soccer stadium on a site not far from Charlestown, Mayor Joseph Curtatone confirmed."

That would be fantastic. My mom grew up in Summy and her family all live there still, right on Central Street. This would be an ideal road trip - visit the family, catch the match. I can only imagine the kind of crowds you'd get, between the townies, students, etc. I really hope this comes off.

I've never laughed so much at a penalty shoot-out. Priceless! The look on Mourinho's face. And he's already moaning about injuries and absent players. Still, we saw last year what a difference Terry makes, so today is pretty dire news for WSS et al. I think winning the shite Shiled means we're probably then due to lose the title, but on a sunny day like today, who cares? There was some good up for it footie, and the lovely prospect of Giggsy, who's going off the barometer in terms of MU legendary hero status, scoring a neat one. Interesting placing of Evra as left midfield. More successful than that of Cole as lone striker.

I missed the whole pointless spectacle as I was in Manhattan with the wife and kids, playground hopping in Central Park. What a gorgeous day!
That was a very strange lineup Jose put out there, by necessity I suppose. Could be a turbulent first couple of weeks, with the Robben/Ballack to Real Madrid rumors and the Terry injury, though we are at least better covered in defense than we were last season.
Let the posturing stop and the games begin. We'll see if Man United can live up to expectations. With Tevez in the fold they have to be favorites to retain the title. I will have a good laugh if we win it all at their expense.

Did you not see the penalties? Shame if not!
Will Tevez make such a big difference? After all the hot air and endless tedium, it might be a bigger non-event than Sheva. How it works with Rooney wil be key, and the lad looked very up for it yesterday.

The Chelsea penalties were farcical. The best penalty - which was a complete surprise - was the first one of the shootout taken by none other than His Name Is Rio. All of the other penalties were close to the goalkeepers although Cech diving the wrong way on a couple of occasions helped.

MU heroes both, and Hughes. Graduates of the Theatre of Dreams. I've had the script written for several months now that Keano is natural successor to Keane, despite any disputes in the past, but could easily see it being one of the other ex-alumni. Interesting start to the season.
