Interesting. Could also have something to do with people not being tied to a particular area perhaps, as Otis suggests has been the case in Poland. In any event, regional accents are quite common here. Even a place like the Pittsburgh/Western Pennsylvania area has its own bizarre lingo and accent.

A few shots from my recent trip to Boston...
Me and the kids at Border Cafe in Harvard Square. Kieran just got himself a Magic 8 Ball and was asking it questions non-stop until we got home. He had to get his sister to read the responses...

A couple of happy Sox fans - My Uncle Ken and Kieran...

Accompanying are the few decent shots my camera got of the great weekend I just spent in Nice, France. The first one shows fellow book club members Tessa and Maureen trying to spot clothes shops they didn't
visit.

Then you see the beach front under some fabulous clouds , followed by some views of the old town , taken while T.& M. looked at clothes and I ate cake.

None of the photos I have of the apartment do it justice. It was correctly judged that it wasn't big enough for my ego so I was , for the first night, booked into nearby seminary , where I posed , suitably
contrite.

Offering basic, clean accommodation it also boasts, as my last photo shows, stunning sea views.

Foodwise , I'm still trying the get over the excellence of the meal we had at Baud et Millet 29, rue Benoît-Bunico. It doesn't seem to have a
website but this comment tell it all -

A few more photos from my Chicago trip have just reached me-
![Image](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v317/charleshardin/2007-10_Chicago_137.jpg)
My interest in this is/was, obviously, purely academic.

This is not the way to appreciate Marc Chagall's mosaic on First National Plaza at Dearborn and Monroe Streets.

Grant Wood's American Gothic - no reproduction can prepare you for the power of the original.

Excellent pictures John. Nice is great - though I almost destroyed the rental car there. Agree about Grant Wood - and it doesn't end with American Gothic; I saw an exhibit in Worcester, Mass a few years ago and was hugely impressed.
Everyone just needs to fuckin’ relax. Smoke more weed, the world is ending.
