My assumption is that Rhino no longer has any rights to the Columbia-era catalog now that Hip-O has taken over the early reissues. (Who knows, maybe Hip-O will want to release a "Deluxe" Taking Liberties in the same vein as the MAIT and TYM editions.)
I'll add my question: since Rhino is owned by Warner Bros., is there any chance that they will ever release The Wendy James Demos? They are the big omission from the entire Rhino reissue series-- 5 officially released b-sides, 4 that have been bootlegged, and one ("This Is A Test") that has never been leaked. They basically form a "missing link" unreleased Costello album-- it was written and recorded in the wake of The Juliet Letters, and it led to him making Brutal Youth and re-uniting The Attractions.
The best I can remember about the fan forum CD, there were several contributors of music, the cover art was set, and I believe Sulky Girl was to put it all together, which must have been more than she could handle. She hasn't been heard from for quite some time.
I'm happy to give the fan forum CD another go at some point. Part of the problem at the time was that there weren't all that many board contributors with the means to record their own versions. And sulkygirl definitely left me hanging re: the artwork, but I understand that it was a tedious prospect.
I still have some of the tracks submitted to me lying around... somewhere.
