Time Without Consequence
Alexi Murdoch
Another sign of how out of touch I am with contemporary artists. I got this after
All My Days was used is the season finale of
Without A Trace. I thought a late 60's
John Martyn track was being used until I found out it was this.
From 2006 , the album , recorded at Sage and Sound in Los Angeles , is an eerie recreation of the sound that Joe Boyd and John Wood used to get at Sound Techniques ,a converted cow shed in Old Church Street, Chelsea , London. It's such a close copy that it comes close to parody and leaves Alexi open to the criticism ( that he has been getting) of being derivative and lacking in originality. The lyrics are a bit repetitive and self regarding. The album does work though as a mood piece , only going a bit OTT towards the end with '12' , a noisy instrumental. Imposter
Pete Thomas contributes percussion on some tracks, Toms on
Breathe and Indian Rattle on
Blue Mind.
