Is Imperial Bedroom the greatest EC Masterpiece ??
Ok. So ImpBed won the Elvis Cup. Apart from a tough semi-final against the mighty TYM, ImpBed strolled it really. So, do you agree that it is THE great Elvis album by which all others are judged etc

No.
It is certainly a masterpiece.
I remember being disappointed when I bought it on initial release but it grows and grows on you over time. I love it now and never skip a track, my favourite tracks being the last two, You Little Fool and Town Cryer.
Personally I prefer Punch The Clock, King Of America and Spike.
Almost all of Elvis' albums are masterpieces, but I could never include Goodbye Cruel World, Kojak Variety and Painted From Memory as such, but I have warmed a little bit to the latter recently.

No, I´m not.Jackson Doofster wrote: You are 'Whoring Lawyer' aren't you KoS ?
I said IT WAS MY OPINION. I think the album is overarranged, it sounds to me very much like Elvis trying to be poppy, Elvis trying to make Abbey Road again (and I love Beatles, by the way). But it´s just an personal opinion. I prefer a more natural sound, and, talking about Costello, I don´t care if that naturality comes from a r´n´r band or a string quartet...
I insist: it´s just my opinion.
Leave the whores alone (though it´s friday).

I agree w/ Gilli...TYM and "Get Happy" are still better albums, IMHO.Gillibeanz wrote:As much as I love IB I dont think anything ever will top This Years Model!
But, c'mon guys...we should ALL be able to express our opinions here without fear of reprisal.
