Tell Us The Truth Tour
Tell Us The Truth Tour
A lot of Christians wear crosses around their necks. Do you think when Jesus comes back he ever wants to see a fuckin' cross? It's kind of like going up to Jackie Onassis with a rifle pendant on.

Activists kick off Tell Us the Truth Tour
Sixteen hundred activists - far more than originally envisaged - helped kick off the Tell us The Truth Tour at the National Conference for Media Reform in Madison, WI, USA, on 7 November. They heard speakers say that the very future of democracy was at stake if the concentration of media outlets continued unchecked.
In the evening, Billy Bragg, Tom Morello, Lester Chambers and Boots Riley performed the first of the live shows on the tour. Tonight's show is at Park West, Chicago, IL, and the remaining dates are listed here. If you are trying to buy tickets through ticketmaster.com, please make sure you search for both 'Tell Us the Truth Tour' and 'Billy Bragg' since some shows are listed under one but not the other.
There is a report on the event in The Capital Times here: http://www.madison.com/captimes/news/stories/60836.php
Billy speaks about the tour here: http://ipsnews.net/interna.asp?idnews=20922
Steve Earle, who joins the tour later, spoke about it to Rolling Stone magazine: http://www.rollingstone.com/news/newsar ... ?nid=18939

Mike Mills of REM, Jill Sobule and Boots Riley of The Coup join Tell us the Truth Tour
November 7 to November 24, 2003
Madison, WI— Mike Mills of REM, Jill Sobule and Boots Riley of The Coup will be joining activist/musicians Billy Bragg, The Nightwatchman (Tom Morello), Steve Earle and Lester Chambers of the Chambers Brothers as they embark on the Tell us the Truth Tour to perform concerts and raise awareness on current media reform and trade issues. These artists will take turns joining in on a variety of the thirteen tour stops, making each night a unique celebratory event.
With support from unions, environmental, religious and media reform groups - including the AFL-CIO, Citizens Trade Campaign, Common Cause, Free Press and the Future of Music Coalition - this tour will be the loudest, angriest, funniest and most effective challenge to corporate domination of the public discourse in recent history. By unifying issues of fair trade and media consolidation, the tour draws connections between bad policies and bad journalism.
“When presidents and politicians lie, it is the job of the press to expose and challenge those lies. When the press fails, the lies become laws,” says Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello (performing as The Nightwatchman). “The point of the Tell Us the Truth Tour is to help others make these connections, and to show them that activism can change the policies of this country.”
All of the artists will play a solo acoustic set in addition to collaborating on some songs. Mills will join the tour from its second stop in Chicago (November 10) until Atlanta on November 16; Sobule will play the last four dates starting in Philadelphia on November 21; and Riley will be on board from tour’s start through the Nashville date on November 14. Actress Janeane Garofalo will also join the tour as an emcee and host for the final four dates.

And I'm doin' very well!
Wonder if Billy will fill in for the sadly departed ID.
