my baby drove up in a brand new cadillac

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Springsteen also had a song called "Pink Cadillac"

I'm surprised no one bothered to mention the very song that MBA mentioned in her subject line

"Brand New Cadillac" by The Clash :D

Night Train--Rickie Lee Jones ("swing low, Saint Cadillac")

There's probably at least 6 Tom Waits songs that mention cadillacs, but for some reason I can't think of any that do. :D

Aretha Franklin had a pink cadillac song too, but I'm not sure that was its title. It wasn't Bruce's song.

Dwight Yoakam, "Long White Cadillac"
and "Guitars, Cadillacs" (. . . and hillbilly music)
"But it's a dangerous game that comedy plays
Sometimes it tells you the truth
Sometimes it delays it"

Black Lincoln Continental by Graham Parker

Shake that cocktail and follow the road
The doors are locked and the windows are closed
There's only one way to the American dream
They're awaiting your arrival in a big limousine

Image

In the back of a, black... in the back of a, black..in the back of a, black...
Lincoln continental, lincoln continental lincoln continental,
Black black, Lincoln Continental black black, Lincoln Continental,
Black black, Lincoln Continental

They take you to dinner and you eat off the plate
And you don't taste the poison until it's too late
And seven years later something is funny
Is it the black upholstery or the dirty money?

Image

In the back of a, black... in the back of a, black..in the back of a, black...
Lincoln continental, lincoln continental lincoln continental,
Black black, Lincoln Continental black black, Lincoln Continental,
Black black, Lincoln Continental

The rugs all fake made of persian jute
And the chauffeur got the job by actin' cute
He's watching the speedometer and counting your money
And the big white lines make your heart beat funny

Image

In the back of a, black... in the back of a, black..in the back of a, black...
Lincoln continental, lincoln continental lincoln continental,
Black black, Lincoln Continental black black, Lincoln Continental,
Black black, Lincoln Continental

I'm still partial to the Modern Lovers' original. Great, great song.

Hey, Leash, I thought this was a thread for songs about CADILLACS, not Lincolns, but that sure is a nice one. Is it yours?

My father said "Son,
you're gonna drive me to drinkin' if you don't stop driving
that hot rod Lincoln."

Hey! I remember that song! Didn't Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen do that song? Good pickin', as I recall...

Naw, that's not my car. Lincolns are too maintenance intensive. I'm more of a Crown Vic sort of guy.

Yeah Cadillacs are nice, too. They're not cheap to run, either, though...
