The desk of one of my college professors, as I waited with my fiance' to debate a grade that I felt was unjustified. He was late, tensions were elevated, as was our amorous mood and certain anatomical structures.

My grandmother loves fishtanks, and for years had a huge one in the living room next to her recliner. My earliest memory is of staring up at this big, brown, soft woman, who was talking to me and hugging me while standing in front of the fishtank, with the most soothing voice and beautiful smile. She also had lots of candy. I couldn't have been more than 2.

When I was in high school, I waited tables in a diner and got fired for refusing to work overtime. It was July 4, 1981. The hard-boiled old cooks, who loved little me like a daughter, walked off their jobs for the rest of the day in solidarity.

Best thing about being a kid (in retrospect): Being totally taken care of, not having to worry about life's details.
Best thing about being a grown-up (from the vantage point of being a kid): Potentially controlling every aspect of my day, changing plans when I feel like it.
Oops, almost forgot my question: On a scale of 1 to 10, how germ-phobic are you?

hey, i like the question beach or mountains.
it doesn't go into this or that, unless this or that changed to ANY this or that.
so: mountains. though, i usually end up at the beach. shorter drive.
and no question, 'cause we already have one out there.
