Hold that room...
Pip, if you're saying you need a ride, Josie's saying the slut Mercury will make it. Stay tuned.

Who is planning to be here and when?
If there is interest in drinks on Saturday, there are bars in the vicinity of the Red Roof that Craig reserved -- Tim O'Tooles on Ontario and Fairbanks comes to mind, and there must be others.
As for Sunday, maybe we should wait til Craig returns and figure out what we want to do. I'm loathe to get there at 7, but Craig is right, you do NOT want to be on the lawn.
I wonder if he'll preview anything from North?

Hi - I'm back.
But my wallet is still in Las Vegas.
I didn't make it camping this weekend, but I did stumble over to the Taste on Sunday afternoon. It is an ugly scene over there. Hot sweaty, dirty, yuck, Elvis will be the only saving grace next Sunday.
If there is one time and place I wouldn't want people to visit Chicago, it would be at the Taste, but here we are.
Anyway, I talked to a security guy at the Petrillo Music Shell, and he said we could probably get there as late as 1 PM and probably still get a seat. I tend to doubt that, and am thinking maybe 10 AM might be doable for more people. He said that there would be people in line early in the morning though.
Anyway, I have some catching up to do at work, so I will probably get back to you all later today or tommorrow.
Tim O' Tooles is ok. There is also a nice outside bar near the river, I think connected to the Sheraton. It's a pretty short walk from Ontario. I think it's called Lizzie MacNeils or something. Anyway, I'll get back to you all later.
Craig

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it up there for the Taste...
Though I just want to warn you all, I think we all will expect many photo's for those unable to make it...so I want NO excuses!!!!!!

A lot of Christians wear crosses around their necks. Do you think when Jesus comes back he ever wants to see a fuckin' cross? It's kind of like going up to Jackie Onassis with a rifle pendant on.

I know there are only a few of us, but would you mind posting any particualrs regarding your visit to Chicago that you wish to share with us. That way I can start to formulate more of a solid plan.
Thanks,
Craig
PS - feel free to call me (312) 203-8951 or email me cbartal@hotmail.com with any questions.

I just know that Cari (my girlfriend) and I will be showing up as early as possible (probably around 10ish) and pretty much heading straight back to Indiana after the show is over.
Hope to see some of you at the show! As I said, I will be wearing a black WIWC tour t-shirt and will be with a short blonde girl. You should all have a rough idea of what I look like, as I have posted my pic

Oh you dirty bastards...I'm sure you are all there right now having a great time...
Though I wasn't joking about pictures...

I posted a few months back that the one thing I knew about the weather at this time of the year in Chicago was that either it would be hot and humid OR cold and rainy. I regret to say that I was wrong. Yesterday, it was HOT and HUMID and COLD and RAINY; all in the span of about 2 hours.
Pip and I got thouroughly soaked by the time I got her to a cab for her 9 hour bus ride back to Paducah, KY. I feel so bad, she must have been so uncomfortable the whole ride.
Otherwise, the show was really great. He pulled out all the stops, played all his "hits", and really played up to the occasion.
Blue Chair, we saw you and your girlfriend from afar but Pip couldn't get your attention.
We had gotten their really early, and I kind of made an impression on one of the security guards, so he gave us some backgate passes. It was kind of good and bad. It was good because we didn't have to wait in the heat for about 2 hours (we found comfort under a bunch of trees that really cooled us off). The girls (PIP and my girlfriend, Christy) were really getting sick in the heat. We had been there since 9:45 that morning. The bad was that we got out of line and lost what would have been first or second row seats. We sat on the side but not what you would call on the side of the stage. When it started to pour (the first time) we kind of lost a couple of our 3 good seats because surely the girls would have melted in the rain .
And after the show we were standing on the wrong side of the theater exit when EC came out (although it looked like he just whisked by anyway).
... And then things got bad! No, it just started to come down in sheets for about 30 straight minutes, and of course we couldn't get a cab, so PIP and I ended up walking halfway back to the bus station in the POURING rain.
I finally met back up with my girlfriend Christy and, both sopping wet, we caught a cab and sailed home.
All in all though, I think PIP and I had a pretty good time. She came in Sat night, we had dinner out by the Lake, and then just walked around, and took the L up to Wrigley field. Elvis, as usual, didn't disappoint, but God kind of let us down with the weather and all.
AS for a set list, someone else needs to come to bat. But I can tell you that every song that you'd of expected him to play at an occasion like that, save for "Veronica", he played; nothing unexpected.
And PIP has a afew pictures, too, if her camera weathered the storm. Hopefully a couple good side views of Elvis. None of me, thank God.

It was a great show. Short, but great. Elvis must have been burning up standing up there in his black suit, but he looked really, really good. From the side anyways . . .
Someday Id like to see him perform in a t-shirt and jeans . . . or something
Yeah, I was thoroughly soggy by the time I got on the bus. Actually, my shoes and socks and pants are still wet. But it was worth it. It was a lot of fun.

OH MY WORD IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My face is SO sunburned though!
That was so great when the thunderstorm escorted that opening band of the stage though. John Lennon lives!
While EC was playing Radio,Radio I thought another storm was coming. there was this great rocking atmosphere, it was so wonderful.
