They wouldn't let me play any ABBA, so I quit. Just kidding....
The radio station is being built from scratch, so it's been very time-consuming. The station must be on the air by April 30th or the FCC license will expire. The only thing holding everything back is lack of funds. I've been told that we will definitely be on the air before the deadline date. Luckily, we've had a bunch of equipment and computer stuff donated to us.
The on-air schedule has been drawn up. If all goes according to plan, Cosmosis will be on the air on Saturdays from 2 pm until 4 pm central time. I picked that time in part so that most of the overseas folks on the board could tune in live at a decent hour via the internet. I've also sent a feeler to Minnesota Public Radio for possible syndication. They're starting an "anti-format" station in Minneapolis that will be very similar in scope to Cosmosis.
Our Nashville station will be getting some local TV coverage in the next week or two, which should help with local fundraising. We may also be getting some national coverage. There's a group that goes around the country helping stations like this one get off the ground. CNN supposedly wanted to follow this group around on one of their ventures, and our station was picked as the one to follow.
I'm still taking requests and submissions from bands, so pm me or e-mail them to iamthecosmos72@hotmail.com.
I also want to thank Lapinsjolis, Bobster, and Tim(e) for doing voiceover stuff for me. I would love for more of you to do listener spots. Again, pm me or e-mail me if you're interested. I try to make the experience quick and painless, (right Bobster?).
For more info on the station, go to http://www.radiofreenashville.org. If you go to the section called "Programming", you'll see some proposed radio shows there. The very first one on the page is the proposal I submitted for Cosmosis.
I may try to burn a test pressing of the show. If anyone wants one, let me know. I'd appreciate some feedback. And I may slip a copy into EC's hands after the Ryman show - with an interview request, of course.
That's about it for now. Sorry if I rambled on a bit, but I truly appreciate the board's interest in the show.
