Canadian Bacon: Who's The Best Canadian Musician
Canadian Bacon: Who's The Best Canadian Musician
I've been thinking a lot lately about the musicians from my country who have made a contribution to music. Set aside all the Bryan Adamses, all the Alanis Morrisettes, and all the Celine Dions, and you still have a solid bunch of contributors. But who is the best?

No Bruce Cockburn? That renders this poll invalid, imo. Everyone should have his new album.

I don't see Diana Krall on the list, Blue.* I like Neil, Leonard, Ron and Robbie but I love Joni.

Now, which one of you edited that post, hmmmmm???sulkygirl wrote:Personally, I'm not familiar enough with these artists to submit an opinion about who the best is...
But I just love Neil Young!
There, I said it.
I did NOT say I love Neil Young, and you know it!!
What I said was, I simply CANNOT get past his whiny vocals, they give me a headache.
I know it was you, Blue....

Well I've given an unstraight answer. It should be Neil in terms of listening to him for so many years and loving so much of it. His contribution is immense, and though I know less of her output, I also love Joni. But I just had to vote for Ron, cos in terms of listening hours in the last year, he's way out there. Still don't have all his LPs, and for some insane reason I still haven't sorted out a ticket for the day he's on at the Cambridge Folk Festival this month, but I think he's a huge talent with many more great songs in him, so I had to give him my vote.

I must concur with Martin in that I am shocked that Mr. Cockburn's name is not on that list.........maybe 'shocked' is too strong of a word (I'm sure it was just an oversight)
It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think that you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt
