Many Costello fans would say Elvis jumped the shark as soon as Goodbye Cruel World, or even Punch the Clock came in the shelves. But I think of it differently. Costello's younger years were a result of drugs and anger. All of his albums have reasons to be, ex:
MAIT-TRUST All of these albums wre drug fueled anger (while still good music, it's very close to the musical movement during that time)
IB-GCW Is when elvis started experimenting
KOA- Elvis first started his musical experimentation with King Of America. It's still going on even today. None of his albums here sound the same. To this date, Costello still hasn't gone back to his "trademark" style of his younger years (thank god).
So you see, Elvis didn't jump the shark, he just started experimenting with music and doing things aside from the testosterone-fueled "Pump it Up" style.
Did Elvis Jump the Shark or did we jump to conclusions?
