New Bowie Song

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

New Bowie Song

Post by lawngnome »

Anyone else heard the new Bowie song "(She Can) Do That"? If not, don't panic, as it sounds a bit like Never Let Me Down gone techno. After the disappointing Reality, I'm starting to think the Thin White Duke should retire for a while.

I really liked Reality. Didn't know Bowie had any new songs.

Reality was ok.. A few of the tracks were great. The new song is on the Steath movie soundtrack.

I didn't like Reality either (two good songs not counting the covers, as I recall) but Outside, Heathen and esp. Earthling were all better than anything since Scary Monsters at least, so I wouldn't count him out quite yet. But I'm sure he can afford to wait until he's written ten great songs.

The song is co-written (with somebody who's name I forget) for the movie "Stealth". I doubt that it will be a taster for his next album, but I could be wrong.

Agree it's a crap song, but I've seen the trailer and the quality appears to be consistent with the movie.

And he still puts on an incredible live show

Damn righht! I saw him on the last tour... I dont think even Elvis can compete with that. There were moments during Ziggy Stardust where the entire venue was utterly silent. Coolest thing ever...

I'd be happy to send the song to anyone who wants it.

Yep. I saw him a few years ago at Queens College - tiny little theater - more of a lecture hall really - when he did that New York City Marathon mini-tour (concerts all five New York boroughs in a single week). Totally magnetic peformer and a great band to boot - Earl Slick, Gail Ann Dorsey, etc. My only previous Bowie concert had been the disastrous "Glass Spider" tour at Anaheim Stadium years ago.

I've liked all of Bowies albums since and especially including Outside quite alot, Reality was no exception. Havn't heard the new song, but it would be scary if he was taking a step back.

Havn't seen him live yet, but I plan to the next time he tours.

Reality wasn't as fabulous as Heathen, but it was still very good. Nice to hear something of him. He's been very quiet since the lollipop-->eye-->shoulder-->heart thing of a year ago. I was meant to go see him in Dublin at the open air Oxygen festival but he had to pull out. Shame. Was fabulous at Wembley Nov 03. Hope to see him again before too long.

I forgot about Hours, which I don't like very much.

I like Reality just one tiny hair less than Heathen, which I adore. I like Hours mostly, though parts are dull. Haven't heard the new track, but unless he's gone completely Chad & Jeremy, I'll probably dig it a lot.

Disturbing, yet riveting and hysterically funny at the same time. Promise you won't ever change it , storm.

I must admit, after repeated listening, the song has started to grow on me. Albiet, it still sounds like the Fanta jingle, but its getting better. I wonder if we'll ever get to hear Toy...
