Has anybody heard Ryan Adams' latest, Cold Roses? The only Adams disc that really did anything for me was Heartbreaker but if this one is nearly as good, then I'm gonna have to run out and get it.
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

And how did you like it ?
I'm asking because I've heard two tracks from the album, Twin Cinema and Use It, and imho both are excellent, catchy pop songs.
Quite a lot. It's not dissimilar from their previous disc, The Electric Version. Maybe a little heavier, more guitar-driven sound with additional layers in the production. As you say, full of catchy melodies and hooks. Good stuff.

Hmmm...better than Mass Romantic, but not as good as Electric Version. But still, as WWS? said, good stuff indeed.

I may need to listen to it a few more times before I decide where to rank it. "Jackie, Dressed In Cobras" and "Sing Me Spanish Techno" are my faves on a first listen or two.

Yeah, I have to admit, this one is pretty damn good- especially on repeated listenings where the songs can grow on you. Defnitely should NOT be a two-disc 20 song conceit though. Easily enough filler for one excellent 15 song disc. This is a return to the more countrified sounds of earlier stuff. He's still a prick though.

New Blasters CD? I heard a bit of it in a music store the other day and it sounded, well, like another Blasters album. Only heard one song, but it was unremarkable from an otherwise remarkable band and singer.

Any comments?

Sorry M. A, am close to illeterate in all the deep music you guys comment.

Still nice to read, the comments themselves are quite enlightening and a lot of fun as well. Not sure they do a lot for the quality of my English always, but never mind. Now I can almost talk like a pig and gosh, that can be put to use, on occasion!

But I am far from being a master at it, so please kindly don't feel insulted, when I screw up ! Its OK to scream though, if you feel like it, but for Chrissakes soften the blow, and add a lot of LOLs !

Dave Alvin's not involved anymore, is he? It's just Phil and one of the other oriiginal Blasters, plus some new guys.

If you haven't already, you should check out Dave Alvin's solo albums. Ashgrove and King Of California are both excellent.

Just bought "Back to Bedlam" - James Blunt

One thing strikes me, concerning 2 songs :

- "You're beautiful" : beautiful, and sad.

- "Cry" : it sounds sad, and it is beautiful ! :)

Why do you hope I kept the receipt, Bad Ambass. ? This album is pretty good. For some reason, reminds me of the Doors.

Because "Cry", man, echoes this other cry for me : "This is the end, my only friend, the end". Not as good, not as haunting, but the Blunt song goes deeper, in a perhaps more mature and loving way. Sounds like this young guy knows what he is talking about.

Well, it seems fatuous now, as you appear to like it. Personally I find his voice akin to the sound of fingernails being dragged down a blackboard with the addition of odd, frequent gulping noises. Add in his saccharine lyrics and I'm ready to shoot the man.

But, each to their own.

Indeed, I do not like his voice, and there is a part of the lyrics which makes me uneasy.

But still this guy has got something.

Now, your judgement is harsh, do you happen to be pissed right now about something ?

SMM,

How do you like Cole's Don't Get Weird On Me, Babe? I remember buying that and Rattlesnakes around the same time after Otis raved about ol' Lloyd and I was really into them both for awhile.

Dunno, I just got it today! Will be ripping it to iTunes shortly. But as I mentioned those were the only 2 Lloyd records I didn't have-- I'm a total convert.

Congrats, Mugster. You've finally joined the elite Complete Lloyd Club. Then again, bet you ain't got Plastic Wood, the live CD that came in the Lloyd box set, nor, perhaps, the bonus CD from the Rattlesnakes 20 year Deluxe reissue, so you perhaps have a little way still to go. Then again, PW is muzak (only played it once), the live CD is very shoddy sound quality. The Rattlesnakes bonus is worth having for Sweetness, if you don't know it (b-side of Rattlesnakes, the only Lloyd I have on vinyl), and is worth having for a few other items too. Only played Bad Vibes once or twice. Mr Wrong and Morning Is Broken and So You'd Like To Save The World are all good. Doesn't really grab you as an LP, though. Though as is typical with Lloyd, it probably takes a few plays. DGWOMB is one I had to reappraise, thanks to Doof. Some of it is great.

Bad: love your description of JB! I'm partial to a bit of You're Beautiful, but I agree (with Martin, I think it was) that it's nauseating to see him so popular when other more deserving singer-songwriters languish. No you mustn't change your avatar. For me you will always be Rufus!
