I'm 12 years old and OBSESSED with Elvis Costello.
Hello. I'm 12 years old and OBSESSED with Elvis Costello.
You're probably thinking "Wow... um ok."
But its true. My ringtone is Alison. My wallpaper on my phone is a slideshow of different pictures of Elvis Costello. I love my elvis costello shirt, and I listen to his entire CD at least once a day. In school, I did all my projects that I possible could about him.
I know, it doesnt seem THAT obsessive, but I'm not that old yet. I can't go to a concert or anything.
I'm also obsessed with David Bowie, Queen, and Cyndi Lauper. But over all, Elvis Costello is the best.

Re: I'm 12 years old and OBSESSED with Elvis Costello.
welcome to the board young Elvis I got into Elvis at a similar age, there's tons of great songs to discover and it will probably lead you to discover other singers and writers too, Elvis has always talked a lot about his influences and he's done many versions of other peoples songs which you might like the original... The other artists you're into are pretty good too, what good taste you have.

12 years old is a great age to get obsessed.
I was 12 when The Beatles invaded America.
Cheers

I remember getting into EC when I was seven, I remember I still confused The King with EC, could of sworn EC wrote 'Jailhouse Rock'
It's not the days when you leave me, but all I fear are the nights.

But that's only because of the people.
I exclude myself from this because everything I know is wrong.
Welcome young sir. You're even younger than when I started listening to Elvis. I was 14 and it was when Warching the Detectives came out. At least I've got the telephone directory sleeve.

But oh yes, the site is a bit bland if it wasn't for the people. I actually started listening to him around 7 or 8, when I first heard rather Chelsea or Clubland on my mom's iPod.

Oh, dear. You're in trouble now.
First off, there's the recordings. There are a lot of them (and hopefully more to come.) You're not going to just want sporadic albums, you're going to want them all. Among Elvis fans there are varying opinions as to what's good and what's not quite as good, but as a body of work the quality exceeds anyone still actively recording.
The trouble is, it's not just his recordings; suddenly, you find yourself wanting records by Nick Lowe, Jackie Wilson, Burt Bacharach and Mose Allison (no relation to your ring tone.) Now you're talking serious money.
The worst part is the live shows. You see him solo, you see him with a group, you see him after shows, and then everyone else's shows seem to be lacking.
At least you found us. When you hear yet another song that obviously rips off a nugget from Armed Forces, come here. When you quote a lyric as the perfect retort in a conversation and people look at you like you're from Mars, come here. When you need a 12 step program (or relief from those occasions where 13 Steps Lead Down [see prior sentence]), come here.

Re: I'm 12 years old and OBSESSED with Elvis Costello.
Haha! You guys are hilarious! Well yes, my mom went to one of his concerts, The Singing Songbook ones, and it was more expensive then most broadway shows, and she got one of the worst seats.
However, yes, they ARE addicting. And since I like show that I'm obsessed with people that no one my age knows, I have to buy more and more stuff and listen to more and more songs, until I am singing down the hallways.
Which happens occasionally.
By the way, one of my best projects, my Elvis Costello one that I did in music, got me to the Best Female Music award in my school, despite that I got a B in the class.

I tend to get males and females mixed up. It's gotten me into trouble a few times, not least that time in...

If it's of any consolation, one of the moderators thought I was female when I joined. However I've gone onto live a life without this affecting me TOO much. Although others may disagree!
