Since you put me down, it seems i've been very gloomy. You may laugh but pretty girls look right through me.

It’s been nine days since this announcement and no more dates in sight.
Could this be a one-off? Or a warming up for a recording session?

THIS IS ELVIS COSTELLO REPORTING…
The cancelation of JazzFest in New Orleans has been a big disappointment and discouragement for musicians, organizers, crew and music fans alike. We look forward to our next visit to the city in better days.
We are trying to make the best of this situation by arranging for the “Hello Again” tour to visit a few more U.S. cities during the second week of October.
Please standby for forthcoming announcements.
However, something else stands in the way of my return to the stage with The Imposters at the end of August.
I will hand you over to Steve Nieve to explain.
"There is no sign of the US border opening for French or UK citizens, so we were obliged to make a decision regarding the appearance in Kansas City (August 27th) and in Omaha (August 28th). My colleagues will be welcoming our friend, Charlie Sexton, the brilliant Texas guitarist, who plays most of the time with Bob Dylan.
I’m sure it will make for a rocking good time.
I wish I could be there to hear them but feel certain that my “letters of transit” will be in my possession before the “Hello Again” tour kicks off on the Soundstage at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee on October 13th and E.C, Pete, Davey and myself will look forward to seeing you all then.
Your friend through music, Steve Nieve”
E.C. here again.
After being off the stage since we played the Hammersmith Apollo in March 2020, it is very disappointing not to be able to smuggle Steve Nieve into the country in time to play for our friends at the Uptown Theatre in Kansas City and at the City of Omaha Celebration but we want to thank our pal, Charlie Sexton for stepping in at short notice and will look forward to these unique shows by “Elvis Costello & The Layabouts”.
Tour Dates
Elvis Costello & The Layabouts
08/27 - Uptown Theatre Kansas City, Missouri
08/28 - The City Of Omaha Celebrates America

Email this evening to say you must provide proof of vaccination or a negative test within 72 hours to attend.
I have had the jab so its ok for me, refunds offered otherwise.
I got a separate email that also said doors open at 6, show starts at 7, maybe Elvis wants to get to Omaha at a reasonable hour.
Anyone else going?

One thing I was surprised not to see in the setlist is anything from Hey Clockface, but perhaps that makes sense given Steve's absence from the concert and Pete and Davey's absence from the album.
