so lacklustre wrote:My signed copy of the Billy Bragg boxed set arrived despite the official release date of 6th March. However after the briefest of glimpses it has been taken away as it is a birthday present from my n&d. So I will have to wait until 5th March!!

Whilst ordering bumped up the cost to get free postage by ordering this greta 'Che Cooper' t-shirt.

My copy of the box set's just been posted. It's not signed, but for £28 delivered, I'm not complaining.

Finally picked this up. At 24 tracks, definitely the definitive hits collection of one of the greatest voices of the 20th century.
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

Bought quite a few new CDs recently. Bought Ian Dury yesterday at Tesco's for a fiver. Squeeze Greatest hits and My Flame Burns Blue arrived today.

Other buys recently include the classics - London Calling, Sgt Peppers, Pet Sounds, What's Going On, THe Kick Inside, Parallel Lines...all very good.

Ordered the Mark Lanegan/Isobel Campbell album, "Ballad of the Broken Seas". Looking forward to hearing it.

I also found out that while I was away on vacation I won a signed photo giveaway contest on the Richard Hawley message board. The photos are by Chris (aka snapper), one of the board regulars. He sent me a link to some new photos to choose from - which do you like best?...

You should check out some of snapper's other work - top notch photography...

I hope you enjoy it MBA. Mrs VG and me love them (we went to see them last month and thoroughly enjoyed them. Indeed they're at a festival we're going to later this year so I look forward to seeing them again).

I'm currently listening to Kasabian's eponymous album.

Yeah, VG, your rave review popped into my head at the record store, just as the clerk was explaining to my friend that the name of the band that someone had helpfully written down for her was actually a Spanish slang term for the male genitalia. I was so distracted by the exchange that I grabbed the first CD whose name I recognized. I like it! Thanks...

The Jon Brion record is indeed incredible - what a wonderful and strange version of Cheap Tricks "Voices" - and the opening track is a killer.
Would love to see one of those Friday night at Largo gigs.

Hehe, I don't have many expenses and I have a decent salary. But I wouldn't say I'm rich ;). I also very rarely buy cds at full price. Most of these are part of a sale. I've paid no more than 950 SEK (which is approx. 100€, 70£ and 120$) for all this :)

I bought "Basher: The Best of Nick Lowe" from a charity shop for £2.99 yesterday. I was rather excited; I've tried to find his stuff for ages, but it's not in music shops. Also, his CDs are rather expensive on Amazon. But I've bought it, played it, and it's growing on me.

Good pick, oldhamer. eBay is a good source for all things Lowe. Amazon once had The Abominable Showman listed for $218.99.
Like me, the "g" is silent.

I finally had some extra cash & bought:

Bob Pollard - From A Compund Eye
Adam Arcuragi - s/t
Editors - Back Room (poor man's Interpol, but 3 or 4 great songs, worth the $9.99 at best Buy)
Arctic Monkeys - also 9.99 at Best Buy, usually I love these overhyped albums, they typically have 2 or 3 great songs, but this does nothing for me)
Juliet Letters reissue
My Flame Burns Blue
Neil Young - Greatest Hits
Nuggets 2 box (I had this on CDR for years, finally buying it)

plus got a leaked copy of the new morrissey, hooray!
we have powerlines in our bloodlines

Whats the Robert Pollard like GBV? Ive been really getting into "Human Amusements at.." What a great collection of songs. Have downloaded a few songs too and theyre all great. What is "Half Smiles..." like? I know conventional wisdom says "Bee Thousand" and "Alien Lanes" but Im wondering what else besides them? Ive liked everything Ive heard so far.
