Chrille wrote:Wait, Waits new album is not a compilation of outtakes and such? I was intending to get that eventually, but if this is all new material I must get it soon.
It's kind of a mish-mash... 26 of the tracks are outtakes or songs that appeared on soundtracks and tribute albums (such as "Walk Away" from the Dead Man Walking soundtrack and "Return of Jackie & Judy" from the Ramones tribute), but 30 of the recordings are brand new.

I think it was speculated as outtakes in the sense that they are songs Waits may have written but never gotten 'round to recording.

I'm reserving it for the Christmas list, but can't wait.

Hoping to see John Cale live here in January.

It's on the list, and in fact, in the bag!!! Can't wait...

I enjoyed The Killers on Jools and Sam's Town is mostly very good. This video (Tim Burton) and song are both fabulous:

Here's a good review of them in Glasgow and on the different perceptions here of them to the US, where the new LP has been slated (I keep seeing these Springsteen refs, but it's only in some of the lyrical refs, since they've decided to write like Americans, less kike wannabe Mancunians, whereas the music is still far more glammy indie pop than Springsteen).

Love the drummer's My Name Is Earl chic!

Kinda homo-erotic, isn't it?

Homo-erotic ICE? - I guess it is if you are a homo! looks ok to me but then im a woman! Anyway that was taken about 10 years ago for the teen market - they are all grown up now!

I genuinely like their records - dont fancy boy bands,at my age little boys have no appeal for me! My 26 year old daughter went to their concert earlier this year and said it was awesome.

I like Take That - make no apologies for it . I hate snobbery in music! I will let you lot know what the album is like whether you want me to or not!

Barlow is disturbing me there!

Listening to Sufjan bootleg from NYC Town Hall two months ago this very day. What a fine night it was.

I met Milo once in my living room at the house I lived in at the University. My roomate must have been "dating" someone in the band - I was in a particularly bad mood and was getting more and more fed up with going into the living room and finding poeple I've never seen before - this was a weeknight and he was sitting at table with a friend (roadie or producer) - I gave him a tired "who are you - what are you doing here?" - we ended up playing Milles Bornes for a few hours - nice guy - his friend was a little unhinged though. - This all happened about 21 years ago - man I'm old.

The Minus 5 - The Minus 5

Definitely one of the most overlooked albums of the year. How can you go wrong with the line "I had six White Russians tonight, and two of them were people"?
