Talk about over-egging the pudding. I think the lack of action here has more to do with the fact that people interact differently, via Facebook, Twitter, whatever.Mr. Average wrote:Its very sad to see a once great forum, unselfishly championed by some very great people, fizzle out. I wonder if the tolerance to alternate opinions to the board consensus would have kept the fire alive. Instead, through defamation of views inconsistent with the majority, the board worked feverishly to purge the forum of dissenting opinions. Opinions that induced fire and vitriole, but at least induced SOMETHING...real thinking.

Re: Random Thoughts
It's interesting to read WSS, Bamboo and Mr A's views about the Board and what's been happening lately.
My own view is that the Board is not so active anymore because of social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter etc. I personally have no time for them (probably because I'm not a very sociable person ). A few Board members have emailed and sent facebook details etc. However, I have their email addresses so if I want to contact them I can.
Additionally, many of us have been on this Board since its inception from the old Board and others go back to the EC website Board.
Personally I've made many good friends who I have and have not physically met.
But from my own experience, in the 7 or so years this particular version of the Board has been going, I am now busier at work, I have a 2 year old and another mini-me due in July. My time is more limited. It doesn't mean I don't lurk around (I regularly check for tour dates) but I don't necessarily log in and post.

In my family, every time a new family member came along, it was like a bomb leveled our family structure and we had to rebuild. In a good way. I'm excited for Mini VG I & II, Mrs VG and you too, VG.

Can you reach any higher, CS? Love Griffey. No steroids; did it the right way. Home run leaders: Aaron, Ruth, Mays, Griffey. bonds, McGuire, Sosa have big asterisks. ARod will pass them, and although he admitted steroid use for a couple of years, I will give him a pass since he was awesome from the beginning, and all the way through. The other guys' numbers had huge jumps once they got juiced, not ARod. But Griffey is the man. Can you imagine how many he would have hit if juiced?

Re: Random Thoughts
Forget the notion of 'juicing' Alexv, I am always struck by the thought of how many more he would have hit had he stayed relatively injury free in his later career. Junior was the best player I saw in the modern era up until ARod and Pujols. His swing was poetry and to watch him roam the outfield was a 'thing divine'. It is something to contemplate that the franchise in Seattle gave us Junior, ARod, arguably the best DH of the modern era, Edgar Martinez and now the gifted Ichiro-if they had only had some pitching!!!!! That is a nice progression of talent over the last twenty some years.

No regrets with getting the MLB baseball package-having now witnessed the opening game of what could be an alltime career- Mr Strasberg has nasty stuff- this is going to be fun- and all too soon to come the newest phenom, having been drafted yesterday.

Does anybody still watch The Simpsons?
I found that I missed a couple of episodes on series link and then just realised I wasn't unduly fussed. I didn't even reset the series link.
