With the Saratoga also announced, it looks like there will be a (small) EC and The Imposters tour as well.
Since you put me down, it seems i've been very gloomy. You may laugh but pretty girls look right through me.

The Replacements. Nice. I heard they had a small audience at Coachella this year. All the young kids were at the DJ stages. Totally lame.
I just bought tix for the Saratoga show. I would rather see them in SF!

I am! I'm a huge 'Mats fan, too, so it should be quite the weekend.

me? i'm more of a METS fan! but, i liked the Mats a bit in the mid 80's! Westy bores me now. but, i was happy to see them open for ELVIS in 1991 at MSG, NYC and better still, i caught THIS classic show...Bob's LAST at THE RITZ (A REAL FUN NIGHT!): http://replacementslivearchive.blogspot ... rk-ny.htmlseanpointblank wrote:I am! Whether he’s in country, jazz, reggae, or even string-quartet mode, Elvis Costello can do that. While the punk spitfire of his early New Wave albums like My Aim Is True and Trust has softened over time, his passion for songcraft is as robust as ever—as is his extraordinary voice. Mainstage, Sat., 6:15 p.m. —Gwendolyn Elliott

He's barely 15 mins into his set and Elvis Costello has been doing non-stop hits. And I'm in heaven.
Elvis Costello is rocking Bumbershoot significantly harder than I expected.
Elvis Costello live at Bumbershoot. 100% confirmed now that I am not a fan.
Crowd at the Elvis Costello set is the most sensiblely dressed bunch at @Bumbershoot. Lots of jackets and closed toes shoes. And shirts.
Yay, he did Olivers Army! My all time favorite Elvis Costello song. #Bumbershoot
So far, my favorite part of bumbershoot has been watching all the 40-somethings smoking weed during Elvis Costello's set.
Elvis Costello showing show real skills on the guitar at Bumbershoot. Definitely underrated as a guitarist.
Elvis Costello is a fucking machine. Amazing, non-stop set, plus the best jacket/hat colour combo.
So happy Elvis Costello at #bumbershoot paired my 2 fav songs Radio, Radio & What's So Funny About…
Brilliant Mistake interpreted in sign language: http://instagram.com/p/sWBsuxNUc7/Elvis Costello tore it up! I expected him to be good. He was beyond awesome!

Elvis Costello: Kathleen Richards says, "Hippies love Elvis Costello. Burners love Elvis Costello. Kids in Wu-Tang T-shirts love Elvis Costello. Pogoing old couples love Elvis Costello. What’s not to love?"

Here's the list.
1. King of America
2. I Can't Stand Up for Faliing Down
3. High Fidelity
4. I Write the Book
5. Watching the Detectives (with megaphone enhancements)
6. Walk Us Uptown
7. Oliver's Army
8. One Bell Ringing
9. Bedlam
10. Allison
11. My New Haunt
12. Clubland
13. I Don't Want to Go To Chelsea
14. Sugar Won't Work
15. Radio, Radio
16. Peace, Love, and Understanding
17. Pump It Up
(No encores)
Began 6:15 pm
End time I forgot to note exactly, so see what others report, but I'm pretty sure it was 7:30. (And that was the scheduled, allotted time for him as there was a subsequent band, so EC needed to end on time so next band could set up.)
I can send pix later, but his attire was lovely as usual, hat periwinkle blue to match shirt, jacket a tasteful shade of magenta, trousers and shoes the usual black, and the sox were. . . .. neon green. No kidding. Dude has style, true dat.
[It rained a bit on us all, but not the band of course. A misty rain. The point is, we could have used some bumpershoots.]
It was my first time seeing Pete and Steve. Amazing. Pete's timing is impeccable.

My New Haunt and the whole of King Of America - I just wish he'd write a song with some lyrics that include Get Happy so I could hear all of that

Elvis is in the building
The first thing that stood out about Elvis Costello’s performance (besides the singer’s exquisite purple blazer and blue hat ensemble) was the organ player: he punctuated the spaces between Costello’s verses, giving the songs a playful, hopeful air. Somewhat surprisingly, he had only three supporting musicians (keys, bass, and drums with his guitar) but they made a lot of noise. At one point he put a megaphone in siren mode and pointed it at his guitar so the amp picked up the screeching sounds. Costello continued to conduct cheeky experiments with noise and distortion over the course of his show.

i can NOT disagree on the ALL THE RAGE sentiment. my first in Cleveland 6-2-1994 was one of the single best EVER songs i have seen him play.verbal gymnastics wrote:But why with this and the "hold the final chord"?bronxapostle wrote:at the end of brilliant...it is probably hold on the "A" or the "E" whatever is the last chord.verbal gymnastics wrote:I wonder what the last word is at the end of Brilliant Mistake.
