Sympathy for the Mug

Post by Otis Westinghouse »

My chum, and pal to many of us, the Selfmademug fell at home on Friday and broke her arm horrendously, with immense pain and a lengthy fracture to the humerus requiring two nights in hospital, a plate and nails and God knows what. She's back home now, recovering. Fortunately it was her left arm and she ain't a leftie, so we should benefit from her keyboard use before long.

Sympathy to the Mug!

Oh Mug, sweetie, I am soooooo sorry.

You see, I know exactly what you're going through. In my, now infamous, car accident about 3 years ago, my arm was broken and I had to have that plate and screws and hospital stay. I know what it feels like and I am so sorry for your pain.

If it makes you feel any better, if your recovery is good and your bone heals as expected, the doctors can later remove the plate and screws. I had mine taken out a few months after it was put in, and I even asked the doctor to save it for so I could see what was in my arm all that time. The nurses were really nice and cleaned them and put them in a little bag for me, labeled with my name and everything. Medical technology is amazing, but painful when they're doing it to you.

My best for your speedy recovery, Mug.

I just want to wish you a safe and speedy recovery! Perhaps, if you sweet talk them very nicely, the doctors can be persuaded to give you a morphine drip! :D

I had the morphine drip also.

But turned out I had an allergic reaction and just ended up scratching myself with my one good arm. :o

Hopefully she'll get some good drugs. :) We'll miss you on fotolog as well, Mug!

Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Broken bones are no fun. On the bright side, you can get people to do things for you. Heal fast, Mug.

Is no one going to make a joke about one-handed typing? Cope? Anyone?

Oh Muggy! At least a digital camera and a keyboard can be used one-handed, so there's no excuse! Only kidding. You take it easy and tell your arm to get better quick.

Bunns X

Spooks, we all need some good drugs.

thanks, dear pal otis, and all you guys. you're incredibly sweet.

elv, i *did* get the morphine for about 3 days, as well as percocet, thanks! am now trying to wean myself off the latter so i don't end up in rehab with our pal rush.

one thing i've been wondering is how people ever got through the horrors of the 'semi-private' hospital room before walkmen and mp3 players...

spooks that is encouraging-- my docs have said the metal is all permanent, but maybe they just don't want to get my hopes up? for now, i've been letting my son know he can't mess with his new robo-mom!

thanks again to you lovely people, :(

Every day goes by with a hitch
The Red Sox should learn how to pitch
But Selfmademug is impossible to break
Though I don't know how much more of this poem she can take.

Sorry I'm a bit late with this, you get up early, Mug! So sorry to hear about your injury. A speedy recovery to you, dear friend.

Love,

Broken

Post by A rope leash »

Dang, Mug, how did you manage to do that? I mean, I know it's the fall season, but you weren't expecting to take a trip, were you?

There's nothing funny about a broken bone. Please heal well, Ms. Mug.

Mug,

Which was worse, the arm or the Yankees? Either way, I'm terribly sorry. About both.

Oh, great Mug!

Well, don't forget that this is a great opportunity to catch up on all the many fine motion pictures currently available on DVD. (Esp. since you're all important remote control hand is uninjured!)

Seriously, though, sorry to hear about the fall, and hope the recovery is most speedy and your children most obediant! Sorry about the Sox, too.

SMM, first you miss out on Fenway for your birthday, and now this... at least you're out of hospital now and don't have to wear one of those aprons with your bum hanging out.... What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, just be sure to allow for any spoiling first. You deserve the best as you recover.
