Another Tower of Song?

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Another Tower of Song?

Post by El Vez »

You guys throw this one right back if you're not in the mood, but I thought it might be fun to revive. Does everybody remember the rules from BWAP's Tower game? To that, I'd also add DrJ's rule that once a board member names an artist/band, they can't use that artist/band again. Let's set the deadline (if everyone's into it) for Thanksgiving Day at 1 PM central U.S. time.

Starting off....

Belle & Sebastian - The Stars of Track and Field
Ron Sexsmith - Former Glory
Nick Drake - Sunday
Cat Power - Back of Your Head
Tenacious D - Tribute
Outkast - Ms. Jackson
Wreckless Eric - Whole Wide World
Steely Dan - Rikki Don't Lose That Number
Blondie - Heart of Glass
Liz Phair - 6'1"

MBA!!!

Richard Thompson is amazing. I think you'd like his work.

folk/rock, somewhat dark in tone, lovely deeply resonant voice.

i do appreciate the Smiths.

i've heard good things about Cat Power, but have yet to hear her work.

Yeah, Thompson's a great artist. Incidentally, who is Cat Power anyone?

Am I missing out?

Okay, call me vengeful, but since Noise took out my beloved Monkee's Dolphin song, and since I have no idea about who Outkast is (yep, I'm proud of my ignorance)....

Outkast is Out....

Lene Lovich is in (with a Nick Lowe tune, giving the Basher the honor he deserves, with two songs on the list)

Lene Lovich -- Tonight
Nat King Cole: The Very Thought of You
Kate Bush - Babushka
Morrissey - Suedehead
The Clash - London Calling
Dusty Springfield - Son Of A Preacher Man
The Kinks - Days
Sarah Vaughan - Embraceable You
Nick Lowe - Without love
David Bowie - Queen Bitch
