Getting to know "The Only Flame In Town"...

Blue, was it you who said you were dying to like "The Only Flame In Town"? I remember somebody saying they needed to hear the demo, it could have been somebody else.

Well, I just discovered the demo while listening to my All This Useless Beauty bonus disc. It hasn't exactly shed a new light over the song, but it is an interesting version.

The ATUB demo has some different lyrics than the original though as it was reworked sometime later as intended for Aaron Neville.

Oh, so it is dated with the ATUB sessions?

Dag, well, hopefully a newer(but older in date) demo surfaces with the GCW bonus disc.

I'm listening to the country version he did in the autumn tour of 1984 at the moment, from the LA show. It brings back all kinds of memories of seeing the performance, using the same arrangement, a week or so later here in Dublin. It is much better than the studio version, hopefully this version will be on the bonus disc.
