For a driving day...

Post by wehitandrun »

...out with friends, would you select "Get Happy!!" or "This Year's Model"? This could be your only chance to turn them onto the greatness of Elvis, which do you choose?

The cd will be repeated throughout the night, and I'm going to include Lipstick Vogue regardless.

Any thoughts by the morning?

Pfft.
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

I think he was being mean to your anti-Elvis friends, not you

And I also agree with the idea of playing both - but start with Get Happy and then move on to This Year's Model...maybe with something else in between if you're afraid of giving them an Elvis overload - I know what it's like to have friends with bad taste, so I've found it's usually best to expose them slowly...

I compromised a bit.

I burned Get Happy(without opportunity/human touch/beaton to the punch/secondary modern - sorry if they're anyone's favorites), with "Lipstick Vogue", "Blue Chair", "Wednesday Week, "Let Them All Talk"... then I burned 8 songs of their choice around those 20 songs, and we listened to the cd from 9pm to 6:00am(with periodical gas stops).

At 6, my friend asked me to put in This Year's Model, and I let him borrow all 11 of the reissues I own(now that's an overload, maybe it's for the best). Hopefully this plan works, he's been obsessed with "Pump It Up", "Chelsea", "20% amnesia" for months. He said after we saw the Elvis Wang show in Boston that he only likes "fast elvis"... hopefully this matures him.

Mug(if you check this thread), remember Ricky? You have a picture of us!
