Elvis Costello humor
This is from Sal's highly amusing newsletter for his
"record store" (as we ancients call them)
NYCD-online.com:
REMINDER:
ELVIS COSTELLO AT LINCOLN CENTER JULY 13, 15, & 17.
JULY 13TH- ELVIS PERFORMS WITH THE "LEFT-HANDED
ROMANIAN SOCCER COACH CHOIR AND LUTISTS."
JULY 15TH- ELVIS DEBUTS NEW OPERA INSPIRED BY LORNE
GREENE.
JULY 17TH- ELVIS & THE IMPOSTORS PERFORM "SONGS THAT
ALL ATTENDEES WISHED WERE PLAYED ON THE OTHER TWO
NIGHTS"
Sal's newsletter includes usually enthusiastic, but
sometimes hostile, reviews of albums he's selling, as
well as intriguing looks at what's languishing on the
shelves of his store at bargain prices.

Most of the time it says on the poster 'plays the songs from North' or 'EC and the Brodsky Quartet' soif you've got half a brain, you might realise that he won't be playing Radio Radio...still people turn up who think it's a 'best of' show. They always seem to know someone called Alison in the front row that they're trying to shout at to get her attention too. Weird.

Mind you LC, it'd be interesting if the EC and the Brodskys did a version of Radio Radio! They've successfully tackled Rockinghorse Road and New Lace Sleeves.
But I agree with you. When EC did shows in the mid to late 80s and women came on stage there seemed to be a never ending procession of women called Alison.
I always vowed that if I ever got on stage I'd say my name was Alison too.
