New torrent musings...

Post by Turquoise Pajamas »

Someone on DIME has requested the 10/21/86 NYC show with the Attractions which I'll get up in the next day or so. That will conclude this installment of 1986 shows from me for the moment. Onto the next batch...Does anyone have anything they'd like to hear? I was thinking of maybe putting up a Rude 5 show since those seem to be pretty scarce. Of course, there aren't a lot of good sounding Rude 5 shows that I've been able to put my paws on (not sure there are too many good ones to begin with). Anyone have any thoughts?

What/Who Are/Is the Rude 5?

Already mentioned it, but I'm still interested in great sounding recordings from the -81 (Trust) and -82 (Imperial Bedroom) tours.

Hey Chrille,

That's right you did mention that. I'll scour through and see what I can find from that era that's decent. I'm not sure how many great sounding recordings there are from then. Will you settle for good-sounding? :)

The Rude 5 members are: James Burton, Jerry Scheff, Marc Ribot and Jim Keltner. I love the sound of his backing band from this era, but from what I've read I might be in the minority there. Either way, if you haven't heard any recordings from then it might be interesting for you to do so. It's just one more piece of the mosaic that is Elvis.

This is a pretty decent Rude 5 show from 1991. I gave my copy a spin this evening and I'm sure others would be glad to have it, presuming you have it.

Hey Martin,

I do have that one. I'll get that one posted. Any thoughts on Chrille's request for an '81 or '82 show? The Forest Hills show is pretty decent if I recall. I'll have to listen again to make sure it's as decent as I believe it to be.

I don't believe there are a lot of either good quality Get Happy or Armed Forces shows out there. There's a couple, but they are few and far between.I'm grateful for whatever you post. The 86 shows have been terrific, especially the 18th.Great setlist, nice sound

That Japanese Rude 5 setlist made me drool (no exaggeration) and I...WANT...IT!

Their arrangement of Clubland beats all others hands down. (But I've only tracked down two gigs of theirs so far.)

Thanks for this - its terrific - am loving it to bits. Nice jazzy versions of I Want You and Detectives. Love how the songs slide into eachother and great, great band, the playing is immaculate, as you would expect from Keltner, Ribot, Burton and Scheff and great sound quality.

Ok , listened to this all the way thru now and Couldnt Call It Unexpected and Almost Blue are awesome versions, Doomsday has a great guitar Ribot guitar freakout and looped sample at the end and theres a great version of All Grown Up - EC seems to be in exceptionally fine voice - if you dont have this do yourself a favour and grab it quick - its stunning.
Thanks again for getting this up guys.
