Pogues biography

Post by martinfoyle »

Just came across this new biography of the Pogues in Dubrays on Grafton St.

No bloody index, of course, the Elvis stuff starts about page 110. The intro can be read here.

I also leafed through a bookshop copy , happening on some Cait 'n Elvis bits. The best was where a Pogue mentioned what was really annoying was how , on tour in '85/'86 , Elvis 'n Cait were always reading. However what was realy galling was that they read hardback books wheras the rest of them couldn't afford them! A very understandable distinction!

I once went to see The Pogues in Nottingham in 1985. I left early - the crowd were too manic, and the sound wasn't good. The next day the review in the paper said that surprise guest Elvis joined them on drums for the encore. Oh I wept!
