Good to see the return of the obligatory Bob Dylan song (OBDS), cosmos.
Out: Amy Winehouse
In: One of my best new discoveries of recent years, Grandaddy. If they (1992-2006, though who knows talented songwriter mainman Jason Lytle could reform them at some point) were newer I might have put them in Miss Buenos Aires' 'best since 2003 bands' because I think they're pretty great. Elliott Smith thought so as well, they toured around together a bit and would share the stage sometimes.
Wikipedia describes them thus: "Musically, the band features guitars (both in the indie rock style and in a fashion calling Jeff Lynne to mind), keyboards reminiscent of Philip Glass's minimalist style and vocals in the key of Neil Young. The band's musical style (somewhat classifiable as indietronic) often combines experimental electronic sounds with elements of folk and rock. Lyrics generally focus on isolation in a high-tech world grafted onto rural America. Common themes in the band's music are wildlife, obsolete technology, robots, incompetency and heartbreak".
